Maybe I should've learned this midi dump shiz but I didn't now I need you playaz help. and maybe this is why you have so many heads converting to software....well i never had this problem before becuz I never midi dumped....with the Korg Triton I would just change the settings on the triton and save the midi files on the mp and the settings on the triton. now I am using my sound module now and this is where I am put at a halt

I read the MPC manual section coveing this and it was very brief and appears to not work for me............

I set the MP dump screen to (In:2) (Out:B) that would be where the sound module was located. I want the MP to get all of the files from the module.
The module's manual said that the file would take up to 82kb....which I didn't mind at all.....so I set it up...put the MP on Track 64 and pressed record and pressed enter on the module...so it was transfering and it got to the end and made a ding sound it was done.....so I save it and it def. was a big midi file so I know that some kind of info got in the mp.....so i figured I was str8......turn the MP on and the keyboard and sound module and loaded up the midi file into the MP and then .............................NOTHING........no sounds no midi nothing...I don't know how to dump back in to the sound modules so maybe I am slow....help me out playaz

Midi out of MP to midi in of external device
Midi in of MP to midi out of external device
Hold down shift and press Midi/sync no. 9
on the numeric pad to display the mode
screen and press dump[F2 key].

Receiving sample data: select midi input output terminals
match the device ID's on the Receive screen with the transmit
screen.

You can specify which number to receive from the external device
in the Request field:

Receiving Sample Dump data is acheived by sending data from the external device or sending the sample Request to the external device
by pressing Reques[F5].

when the sample data is being received it will say RECEIVING.

what you want to do Prah is press [SEND ]from the transmit window so the mp can receive the dump

What up Prah,
What is suppose to happen after you do the midi dump and then you load it back to the mpc?

By JBeats Mon Jun 07, 2004 6:28 am
This might help. Its basically what I had sent you earlier, just in a nutshell.
I hope it does kid. This will save you alot of time.

Sysex is pretty easy
1) connect synth midi out to MPC midi in.
2)Hit record on MPC
3) initiate sysx dump from synth.
4) hit stop on the MPC.

Hey Prah_860_ just to make sure ... after you load the midi file back in the mpc and you turn on the sound module, did you play the loaded sequence in order to send the dump back to the sound module ? Loading the dump file in the MPC is not enough you need to send the data back to the sound module.

Thanks for the compliment Sci but I am far from a midi expert. Prah, it sounds like you're doin' everything right but here's a step by step for how it worked for me with the Proteus 2000/2500.

Make sure the sequence is at the very begining> turn Loop:ON to Loop:OFF> Press AND hold REC> trigger the dump from the module> when the dump is complete let go of the REC button, you shouldn't have to do anything to send the info back to the module other than push play on the MPC.

Again, this is what worked for the me with the Proteus, there could be something in your module that you need to setup for it to work, post back with more info about your module and I'll see if I can help.
