sup 4k headz,

Just thought id start this thread to see what kind of beats/music u lot are writing with your 4k?
and how much of a role does the 4k play in your music?

Im writing hiphop/DnB/rnb/instrumental type **** .
the 4k plays a Major roll in my music (i couldnt live without it ''),
I do all my sequencing and set out the song structure on my 4k ,but sometimes ill print my stuff to protools and build it up that way but its never as much fun!
And im always using ak.sys and resampling my beats/hits/samples,
i think the only thing i dont use on the 4k are the effects, but thats going to be sorted soon''.

What u all at?

Hehe.. :) I wanted to post a thread just like this. What are the chances..

Anyway, I most of the time make lounge music and triphop stuff. Im also into deephouse and techno (wich I allmost played now for a decade). Some time ago I started skratching. Still learning (most of the time I suck real bad! :) ) Its harder then I thought :( I sometimes do make a hiphop beat, but not quite often.. My favorite studio junks are definitely the two crazy guys from Coldcut. But I listen to every kind of music, as long as its good, I listen to it, no matter wich genre it is..

The 4k is the heart of my studio. Its synced with my MC303 wich I use to step edit Kontakt, Minimoog and Devine Machine on a laptop. Laptop and MC303 goes into a mixer. (A Moogerfooger Filter is on his way :D )
The 4k's stereo output goes into a Yamaha SW1000xg (soundcard with onboard FX and Synth, 32parts multitimbral, its more of a rompler but you can expand it with optional cards DX7, Vocoder, etc)
Both the mixer and Yamaha SW go into a Tascam US428 soundcard (desktop pc). Digi002/001 is coming again next month, damn do I miss ProTools.. :( ( I sold it to get me the 4k)
Roland A33 and Evolution UC33 are me MIDI controllers wich goes into the 4k and the desktop. (And splitted to some others via a MIDI splitter)
My turntables, cassete, DVD, CD-player, minidisk and tuner (radio) goes into the 4k and second monitors via an Akai 8band EQ.

I make nu-jazz/techno and some hiphop, i like to chop up drumbeats.

I use the MPC4k for beat sequencing and creative stuff with samples. Complex chord changes are recorded and editted in logic. I sync MPC to logic, it works great for me.

I also trie to avoid the fx in the mpc,

Mainly Hiphop, little RnB tracks, sometimes I'll wild out on some DnB, some soft ballads, when I get my composition game up, I wanna explore classical

MPC 4k is my studio without it, I'd be pretty much heartbroken, of course I can use other programs and I have used other programs, but I just havent fallen for anything else like the 4k

FX on the mpc are virtually non-existant to me I don't even bother, save that for when I bounce it down

Mostly Hip Hop and RnB stuff... But I do enjoy all types of music too... just not Justin and Christina sh*t, you know... hehehe

My main workhorse is the MPC2000XL, MPC4000, and the MPC1000. The 4K is mainly auto-load with several dozen drumsets, the 2KXL is for f*cking with stuff and hooked up to the turntable, and the 1K is there hooked up with Pro Tools digitally so I can fly parts like guitars, bass, etc to/from.

Hip hop and mainly on that Premo edge with the chops. Really doe I love classic rock stuff so i chop the hell out of that like the jb joint built on Roc on the dipolmats you know. Plus some of that funk too. I have a keyboard too, but I really haven`t used it much because I deep into sampling as of late. Hmmn idea now is to move into some of these Japanese Enka songs to chop those up too. :D

Mostly hip-hop beats.I'm trying to make some breakbeats at this time and some downtempo tracks. The 4k gives you the ultimate freedom to make what ever you want. You just need some inspiration, fresh ideas and knowledge on the machine.

Jazz ala St. Germain, Mr. Scruff. I'm a Jazz player at heart but love the beats. My beats are coming from vinyl samples and using some chopped loops. I hav'nt a computer in sight, so all music is taking place between the 4K, a Roland 2480 Hard Disk and a smattering of outboard gear including key modules, effects, mic-pre/comp.

The 4k is a brilliant seqencer, something I use everyday, and the sampler is just fine for me.

Posting tunes soon...and I wanna hear all yours too...let's get busy!!
