About to buy a 2000xl

hey guys, ive been playing around with sampling with my computer and im probably
going to buy an mpc 2000xl and i was wondering,
i dont have any music equipment, what i got is a computer without a floppy drive,
a laptop without a floppy drive and computer speakers.
to play around and record with the MPC what else would i need?
can i connect it straight to a computer with USB and load my drum sounds
from there?

No. Get an mpc2kxl with an mcd and you should be good to go brotha

No usb with 2kxl, read the manual and "know" what your getting into.

can you explain what the mcd does exactly? ive been trying to find info on it
but so far all i know is that it replaces the floppy drive

and lampdog, i havent gotten the mpc so i dont have a manual and i probably
wont get it since its a used one

There is no USB/firewire connection for the 2000XL. Only SCSI and still you can't connect it to the computer.
You will have to transfer your sample files from computer to MPC by way of disks or compact flash cards. Or just record into the MPC what you want to sample.
The MCD is a multiple card reader. it's way better than using floppy or Zip/Jaz disks.

You can downlad the manual from AKAI and read up on what the 2000XL has for features prior to buying it.
