My mpc is freaking out i think it's dead,TV static images

I loaded up a sequence literally 10 mins ago and made a simple hi-hat change.I was gonna save it and all the sudden the screen fades out into black lines.I turned it off and i got these weird tv static like images i knew sumthin was wrong.I took the ram out which i bought like a month ago it's the kingston vaule ram and fired it back on and got different black lines,it seems to load to the main screen but the machines is not funtional with all the lines and weird images.Im also running (or was) jjos 4.99 which i got last friday.I dont know what to do i took the ram out and everything but my drum machine seems like it's dead WHAT CAN I DO THIS SUCKS.I dont feel like dishing another $999 for another 1000,ive had my unit since it first came out do these things only last 4our and a half years,Has this happened to anybody?I guess i gotta go back to software in the meantime.Im freaking out someone help.

could it just be the contrast of the screen? did you try holding down the stop button and turning the data wheel at the same time.

Problems like this are almost always due to loose or broken internal parts shorting out. If nothing is broken, it probably just needs to have internal screws tightened, covered up with electrical tape etc. to stop the shorting.

I fired it up again and came to a conclusion that it could be my screen.The machine is still funtional,i was able to load sounds and i recorded around three minutes so it's not the ram.One thing that triped me out was when im in record mode it would go back to normal for like 2 seconds then fade away into black lines.When im in trim mode and i move start/end points u can see the lines moving as if it's tring to go back to normal.Hopefully a new screen is the remedy i will find out later.

Get a blue one.

This is why I only use Akai RAM.

Every other day I switch between Akai ram and 3rd party ram. It has worked wonders for me.

I agree it doesn't sound like a RAM issue. I've used cheapo aftermarket RAM since 2004 with no probs. I would have bought the Akai RAM but they just couldn't get it into the stores fast enough when these things first came out. I would have had to wait for months dorking with the internal 16mb or what ever...

tell me about it iv been using 16 mb for almost a year now .. iv been waitin around 2 months for the F*CKIn store to get it over here

i doan think its the ram either... usually, in all my personal experience, when ram works, it works.. when it doesnt , it doesnt , and you know right away soon as you install it..

I feel that.I really thought it was the ram that effed up my machine but,If that was the case it woulda did that from the jump.My lcd is on it's way this has to be the prob,If this doesnt fix my prob then im gonna go crazy.As far as the leds i dont know if i wanna go that far BUT,That mpc with the black casing,blue leds/screen with the wooden panels looks SUPER FRESH! solderin the leds sounds kinda scary tho.
