Question about sounds cutting each other off on the 3000...

Im looking into getting a 3000 because Im sick of the sound of my 2500 i need some punch in my drums without having to eq the shit out of them... even when i do eq them they still dont have that PUNCH im wanting...

If you want to play your chops in the 3000 and have each chop cut each other off you have to manual set the start and end points for the chops right? the 3000 only allows you to have 2 cutoff pads per pad correct? So if you want the samples to cut each other off you have to either set the cutoff pads or just manually set the start and end points right?

is there an OS upgrade that allows you to cut off the sounds without having to do all of this?

also you can only use 1 program at a time correct? so you would have to have the samples and drums all in one program? So you have to set all the samples to cut off? and have all the drums in poly, right?

i know it sounds confusing but Im really looking into gettin a 3000 because Im sick of this 2500 and its FLAT ass sound..

you really dont think there is a sound difference? everybody on the internet forums says that the 3000 has a great sound. Have you used both the 3000 and the 2500 side by side? I put my 2500 on ebay and everything already man. You really think it wont be worth it? I heard that the 3000 just has more bottom end and gives your drums alot more punch and warmth.. But if it doesnt then its gonna suck because the work flow on the 2500 is really fast and easy to chop samples and all that. But at the end of the day Im willing to sacrifice a little bit of workflow for a better sound..

Ofcors there is a diff the 3000 is better in all ways to me !
But all this **** about sound thats going on on the forum.. is **** to me.
The diff is so little.. i think it will be stupid to sell your 2500 and get a 3000 just for that.
remmember the 3000 has no chop and cutt off is not as simpel. less functions !
But decide for yourself !

Well with my 2500 when i sample sounds in i can definitely notice the sound loss in the bottom end. I sampled kicks in and they just lose the punch that the kick originally has when i eq it coming out of my pc. I definitely think I wont lose that punch with the 3000

I have the 60, 3000, 2000 and 4000
the biggest difference is between the 60 and the others
the 3000 and the 2000 soun much alike, and the 4000 wins on overall clarity (what comes in comes out)

I think its mainly hype, also you need to realize you are going back to a way of working that is more then ten years old....

exactly. i have the 60 and the 3000 right now.. i'v had all the mpc's i know what im talking about.

I also had a couple of MPC's (except 1000, 4000, 500) then got rid of the 3000 which was the biggest mistake I ever made (equipment wisely) I was into the workflow of the 3000 and don´t ever use new features of MPC's like chop shop etc. But if you like the workflow of the 2500 you have to change your whole workflow (maybe work with output gear) to compensate that the 3000 is a machine with it´s limitations.
The sound of the 3000is nice but don't expect too much or you could be very dissapointed the sound isn't considerable different from the 2......MPC's.
Although i had the 2500 myself and must admit that the sound was thin that´s why i got rid of it. But like I said I never used any features like chp shop, grid editing, fx, comp or else on the 2500.
I would only get a 3000 if you dig the sound+workflow

learn how to layer your drum sounds...use filters, envelopes etc...I'm almost 100% positive that you'd regret stepping back in time to the 3000. stay with the 2500, learn your craft. mix the track after you've made it, not mix it before you make it. if you still find that u are not getting the sound you want... don't be scared to experiment... examples would be try using an akai sampler with your 2500 there are tons of different models out there....run your sounds thru cheap equipment, expensive equipment, you never know you might like how it turns out. good luck.

I'm running my 2000xl with a s950 at the moment. But yould even find an old mixer with nice Eq's or an old effect/filter unit which you could run the 2500 through. that could completley change the sound,
and all for less than spending over 1000$ fo the MPC 3000.
