Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi,
I'm new to the list. Igot this MPC2000XL. Very good shape. Floppy drive. 32mb, and 8mb flash rom, came with manual and CD-Rom player with Akai Vol.1 CD (basic drum kits). No other upgrades.
I paid 500 for it. Did I get a good deal ? Prices on Ebay are all over the place. Not knowing how these are supposed to work yet...I don't know if there is anything wrong with it. It comes on, I can load stuff to it...I've made some simple patterns. The only thing I have noticed is some minor double triggering - but I think that I just have not quite figured out how hard to strike the pads. It's like it's picking up my finger tip bounce, causing another hit.
Is it common to have to strike the pad with some extra force, to keep it from double hitting? Or is this a problem?
I have owned an SP1200 and SP12, so I'm trying to get that architecture out of my head, though they seem pretty similar so far.
I also included a picture of Akai's first sampler the S612: 12-bit, 8 sec. @ 4khz up to 1sec. @ 32kHz, midi in out through, built in LFO, filter, decay, looping, reverse, over-dub...very cool for making sound effects. samples only savable via weird obsolete disks that no longer exist

Heres my little setup. Very small compaired with 5 or 6 years ago.

The EMU e4X 128Mb, 1Gb SCSI HD was bought new in 1996, E5000 is was a recent cheapy at £80 (added 80Gb HD).
MPC is 32Mb, 8 outs and FX. :o

I don't spend that much time making beats as I do all my editing on the Pc and transfer to the MPC.

That gets my lazy arse out of my comfy chair and get more active. What makes it a little uncomfy is my rack of filters and other outboard is on the floor under the Nova.

Given the shrinking space the gear is getting these days, it's just a necessity...that's life!! G.

Bcitral, word up,

It's not a CS-10 but it is a CS-15...I also have a CS-5...the CS-10 is the one in between obviously, but for some reason its more hearalded than the 15, which really does have more front panel features. I'll snap a picture of it....I cant believe you picked it up from that photo, it's alldark and blurry.

EDIT: I have the fun stuff for sure.
Plz forgive me, i'm using a hand me down old camera , no instructions....and i suck at photo shop.

EDIT agin:
Oh, and my house is super dusty. I live near a road and even with windows closed all the time I have to dust shit always...being a single male...I dont do the chores. Now I feel like an abusive parent to my CS-15. Don't call Synth& Family Services please.

10 is great compaired? Nawh, you've got the better synth. The 10 isn't any bettyer than the CS5 as I had all three is the house at one point.
All the filters on the CS range a smoothy lovely though. I love em for drum processing. Mind, you need a moog or korg filter to cover all the sonic areas :D

The jupiter is a beautiful synth though...

I think I used to have one of those Seil things...but it was made by ARP...I read that seil used the same thing and put their logo and text on it. Its not programmable right? The little switches go up or down, like an organ?
It had great sound, but I sold it to none other than John King of the Dust Brothers (via ebay, I dont know him).

Edit:

Oops, I was wrong I just looked it up, I was thinking of an Arp Quartet and a Siel Orchestra which are the saem...but what you have looks more sophisticated.
