One thing you could do with pad mode is change a pad so it no longer played sounds but jumped to different parts of the sequence, you could also change the pad so it took on the functions of another key(e.g you could make a pad work like the tap tempo button)
the downside was that the pad was always dedicated to that new function, across
all banks and
all programs.
os2 has much better way to do the first of the above examples and it involves using an audio track.
On os 2 audio tracks, the pads can be assigned to jump to different parts of the sequence, it works with blank audio tracks too, so you can set a track with the different cue points in place and use your pads to skip between different parts of the sequence, even if your song doesn't use audio tracks as part of the composition.
the beauty of this is all your pads function as normal when you move back to a midi or drum track - miles better than the os1 pad mode.
"pad locate" is half way down this page.
http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/os2 ... rack_e.htmThe only other thing I know of that is missing in the latter 4.9x's is the ability to move between sequences
after recording and without stopping. It only works if you next seq is set to immediate start or play (it does not work when set to "end of sequence").
4.91 is the latest version i have used which i know definitely does this, 4.99 definitely doesn't.
