Tools I'm using:

MP2500 > MOTU Fastlane (MIDI/USB Converter) > Mac Pro > Logic 8

I'm trying to use the MP strictly as a trigger for Logics sequencer (dont worry, that's not all I use the MP for  ). I'm pretty sure I have everything set up right in the MP (Synch Out A, MIDI cable out of A) but it doesn't seem to be transmitting data. I initially thought I wasn't following all the Logic/MP synch directions I've been finding online, but then I checked the MOTU piece and saw that the lights werent confirming data transmission. I also have a Triton hooked up thru the MOTU and the port that's hooked up to has its corresponding light lit and striking the keys registers in the MOTU and in Logic - but the MP doesnt. I've done the usual equipment tests, swapping the MP and Triton's cables and ports, only to find out that the Triton works with both cables in both ports, but the MP doesnt. Is the fact that I'm still running OS version 1.1  my problem? Am I not setting up MIDI right in the MP?

if you want the pads to transmit midi data you have to turn the active track to a midi track - drum -> midi
and select the according midi channel - midi: 1a, 2a, 3a...
midi out master and sync to midiclock and you should see signal on your motu..

and yes upgrading the os is good, because os 1.23 has new sync options and bugfixes (and sadly still some left...)
make sure to read the manual addendum for more info on that.
