MPC 2500 TO CONNECT WITH ROLAND MC-909

I want my MPC 2500 to be the master over my Roland MC-909. But I can't set channels over on the MC-909 to sequence differant sounds on my MPC.

Give the mpc a whip.

Seriously though, I don't understand what you are asking - you want the mpc as master, but the 909 to sequence sounds on the mpc? They will both be masters, unless you are talking about the mpc taking care of sync only..

Presume you are syncing via midi ?

are you trying to set up channels 1-16 on the mpc and then use these to trigger your sounds on the 909?

if so each channel on 909, must be individually assigned to a seperate midi channel.

I would like my Mpc 2500 to receive midi message from the Roland mc-909. So when I record from the Mpc I can hear the different sound patches from the 909 to each respectable track from the Mpc. What happens is, if you are familar with the 909, Whatever track on the 909 is highlighted that's the sound you would get. The message is sent from the Mpc. Ex. Track 1 I want a Bassline from the Roland 909, No problem.
Track 2 I want Piano. You would hear the notes from the Bassline playing Piano now.
Isn't the Roland 909 multi-timbre?

How do you have them hooked up?

I have midi interface midi out to midi in to Roland 909. Midi out from the Interface to Midi In to the Mpc 2500. I also Midi out A from mpc 2500 to Midi In to 909.

I had the same problem this morning, but now I figured it out..

You need to have the JJOS installed so you can assign mid channels and Midi Bank Select.

I plugged my Doepfer pocket control in the Midi In 1 in my Mpc1000, so I can control the 16 volumes at the same time, and I have a visual reference of the actual volumes, and I think I will preserve my 909 faders to worn out...

Then I plugged the MPC Midi Out A to the Mc909 Midi In, and that's it.

I made an empty sequence with 16 tracks in the MPC, Track 1 controlling Channel 1A,Track 2 Channel 2A, and so and so...

This setting is done in the main screen of the JJOS2 at the right side, and its called MIDI. There's also a feature called Pc that permit to you to change the presets of the 909 wiithout ever touching it, and then preserve the banks that you called before.

With this thing I made, i can use every channel of my 909 sepparately from my mpc, and i can record the midi events rather in the mpc rather in the 909 or both.

I really love MPc secuencing, but the sounds are shit, the editing possibilities for the fx are none, and you have to full it of samples! I prefer using 909 basses and synths, and my Emu PX-7 for the drums, slaved with my Mpc in the channel 2 or using it apart...

ummmm.... I thought the whole benefit of the MPC2500 (et. al.) was the fact that you GET to fill it with samples. Yes minimal effects but that's why you have all those outputs.
