MIDI SETUP PROBLEM!!!!!!

HEY PEOPLE....just bought an m audio axiom 61 key midi keyboard...i been tryin 2 set up the midi too link with my mpc1000....i plugged the cables in the right way n stuff the 2 midi cables in and out and turned midi on too 1a and went into mode ...other then changed the sync thing but still nothin...the mpc pads play wateva sounds are loaded up in my axiom...instead of the sounds goin from the keyboard too the mpc the mpc is controlin my keyboard!!! anybody got any ideas too help me ? thanks people...

I know you said you had them right, but it is still not working.....

Google "midi for dummies". You cannot load sounds into an axiom. This is strictly a controller. No sounds generated by this keyboard. You need to hook it up to a sound module or a vsti.

sup people yeh ino. i have vst plugins i no it has no sounds in it.....i'm usin fruity loops n reason.....but i cant get the sounds to record from the keyboard to the mpc..my mpc plays the sounds that are on the keyboard instead of the sounds recordin onto my mpc

I thought you were asking something different, but your not... Here is my reply to a thread that is asking the same thing.... just ina diff way...

You will need some way of getting the sounds from your keybord to your recorder. I am going to try and put this in a way that you will understand... This kicked my ass for a while... Here we go:

Because you are dealing with MIDI, you will need a way transmitting (not the MIDI) the "sounds" from the Keyboard to your recorder. When you use MIDI, all you are doing is sending a signal to either device telling it that apad/key has been pressed. Thatsignal in turn tells your device (Whichever one is receiving thesignal) to produce whatever onboard sound is mapped to that MIDI signal.



So in order to get the sounds that are coming from the keyboard, you will need to get an audio signal (Not Midi) out to your recording device.

What I have done is I have connected the "HeadPhone" out of my keyboard to my mixer. So whenever I playback a sequence thatI recorded with MIDI signals, the sounds are also played thorugh the mixer...... The sounds themselves are being produced by the keyboard, but being triggered by the MPC MIDI signal. IF I were to disconnect the keyboard from the mixer, I would not hear the sounds from the keyboard, but they are still being triggered by the MIDI signal.


I really hope this helps you out. It is the best I could do at explaining how/why it works this way.

yeh that helps a little man...but basicly i dont need midi cables might aswell jus link the keyboard to the mpc via audio cables? cuz the sound comes out of my fast track pro via usb

If you are using vsti then you need to connect your soundcard/interface to your mpc in order to sample your "keyboard" sounds. If you haven't noticed, there are no audio output jacks on your axiom. To use this keyboard you definately need midi cables.

gotcha....i have midi cables and i have a fast track pro and when i plug the audio cables in there from the out of my mpc theres either no sound or too much crackling and distortion....i know this is annoyin .....but its stressin me out any ideas on that?
