New to Forums, almost new to akai

so yeah like stated above this is my first forum, thought id make it special by joing here. anyway im looking into purchasing an mpc 1000 or 2000xl off of ebay, being that im broke like that, and ive been doing research lately, and i must say that i have fallin in love with the mpc 1000 only because its the only one ive been able to touch, thats because the guitar center nearest me only has that one. but anyway my question is what turntable/mixer combo would be good for a beginner..(im also looking into scratching and whatnot)..but it has to be affordable. nothing to crazy

If I had it to do all over again I would grab the 1K, Headphones, Monitors, And some cables to record in from my laptop. Reason being is now I have other STUFF Im learning at the same time instead of mastering, and then moving on. But thats just my take on your post. Welcome.

you can sample right from an audio source? i thought you had to have a mixer or something like that? i new when i had the sp-606 i would sample from my tv, cd player ipod like nobody's bussiness

yea. Same thing. When I got my 1K after reading the manual, I just started doing all kind of recording. No TT's and no mixer, not even an interface. The bonus is that I didn't need to buy the cord, I had it for years. I play movies on my laptop and sample right from there.

You're trying to learn how to DJ and make beats at the same time? You have to master one first! Oh and look on craigslist.org for an MPC.

And why do you think that's different on an MPC? The Inputs are Line level (that's in the specifications by the way), so anything with Line level output can be fed into that.
