dealing with the smell of a lot of records???

what do you guys do about that smell? i know some of you got those funky well dug for collections, but how do you guys deal with the aroma?

this thread is more for those people who have made an attempt to deodorize their vinyl stash.... not so much for those that do nothing about it.

Fabric Softner sheets! in the crates!
But also if you are set up in a basement (As I am) Get yourself a dehumidifier and keep your basement DRY.
As much as I love VINYL I hate that Mildew smell.

and that awful cat pee smell that comes with digging.

yeah, i'm also in a finished basement. i rock a dehumidifier, which helps a lot, but i still get that smell of having 25 crates of records in a 10 by 12 room.

dryer sheets huh? i'll look into that.

HAHAHA, why collect vinyl it's part of the vinyl. i happen to love that smell, but if it bugs you so bad use lysol that why it kills mold and mildew and the smell. ,but watch out that you don't spray the cover or it will mess it up.

I dunno about getting rid of the smell, but some good old fashioned weed smoke and nag champa incense seems to ACCENT the smell quite well. The resulting wonderful smell usually lasts for a few days, but if you burn everyday you can keep it going

you know a good record store by the stank smell it gives off. hate going to a store and that shit is all potpourri

we got our reasons for that, sorry it's my partners store and there's a studio in the back if you know what imean?we have alot of families come in on the weekend. but true dat

haha sounds like ede's spot is the place to be... i love that smell too... vinyl too...

you could replace all the covers and sleeves. that'll probabaly help. but i suppose if you've got lots of albums that's not really an option, only for generic 12 inch sleeves.

the smell has never bothered me,

i have had records that smell BAD!!!

but i always cover it with a plastic clear cover and im good.

Ah man I love the musty smell of old vinyl. I sometimes stick my head in the crates and just breathe in.
