Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I´ve got three problems with my MPC 2000 XL right now.
1. Some sounds I load into the MPC are crackling. It can happen, that I do load them 2 hours later, and everything is alright again.
2. The MPC doesn´t load a few sequences I´ve saved. It says "wrong file" although the files are .MID.
3. Sometimes I load a sequence, and it has 999 bars, although it was saved with 4 bars. I delete and try 2 or 3 more times and finally I got the correct data.

Please help, because it´s production time!

In my case, it doesn´t happen when recording a sample. The crackling is sometimes there, sometimes not. When I first realized it, I found out that the power plug was making kind of crackling sounds. I changed the cable and it was fine again. But then later, the old problem was there again. I thought, that maybe it´s a problem in this area, perhaps not the cable, but something in the mpc. But that wouldn´t explain, why some samples are working perfectly and some are crap. If it would be an electric problem, then the whole thing should sound shit?!
My MPC is 8 years old now, and it makes more and more little mistakes. Most of them I can ignore. I´ve put a fresh OS too, but no cure.

Im not 100% sure that this is your problem but its worth striking it off the list of what could be wrong.

The 2000xl comes with 2mb of ram on board so if you have added extra ram there is a possibility it might have gone bad. This ram may need replacing or might not be seated correctly, by seated i mean 'plugged in'. If you remove the extra 'plugged in' ram and the same thing is still happening then chances are its not the ram.

To remove the ram check the appendix of your manual page 190 somewhere around there.
