MPC-Pro Tools Connection

Can someone please tell me the proper MIDI settings to have Pro Tools control my MPC2000XL for multi-track recording?

Are you using protools 6.XX with a digi oo2 or 002r? If so, I have major problems getting mine to sync with the MPC2kxl. I think it's a software bug because I've read many other posts on the digidesign website where people are complaining about the same thing. I get everything setup correctly and when the mpc is waiting on a signal from protools the protools record and play button flash????and thats it!!! IF SOMEONE HAS THE ANSWER TO THIS LET US KNOW........PLEASE!!!

Slider that's strange. I'm not sure what happening with your setup. But you didn't describe the method of syncing that you use. I'm using a MPC3000 and I use Midi Beat Clock. If you are using MTC, I've found that Midi Beat Clock is easier and very effective. There could be some differences between the 3000 and the XL in this area, but I doubt it. If you search for Pro Tools and midi beat clock here, you should find some good instructions. Also go to the Digidesign User Conference and check it out there. There are lots of specific XL & PT instructions there.

I have it set up via MTC, and have no no problems what so ever. You have the MPC set to 30 frames per sec? Did you click MTC to port on Pro tools?

I was using MTC. Actually, that was the first time I tried to sync protools and the MPC because I just got the digi002r last week. Since then I have just been fiddling with protools and not worrying about the sync problem. Although, I must get it solved sooner or later because it will make things much easier for multitrack recording. I did set the MPC and protools to 30 frames but I'm sure there is something I've missed or did wrong because I have no experience with this sync stuff and I'm a complete "newb" with protools. So if anyone can help please do so.

Did you configure your midi studio in protools? well do that if you didnt, and set the mtc to the out port that the mpc is hooked up to. You should be stright after that. Oh yeah and kill that lil condutor dude on the bottom of the transport bar so you can put in your own bpm. make sure both pt and the mpc have the same bpms.
