sampling with a disk in the drive records more noise?

I notice that with the zip spinning i get this buzz noise that seems to effect my source when im sampling. Is this normal? Or is the buzz just due to old age? The buzz im talking about the the static noise in the back ground of the sampled sound, usually more distinct at the end of the sample.

If you know a fix please let me know, it does add flavor but can be a little too much.

Did you try removing the disk from the zip so it stops spinning before sampling? Does that help?

Also, it could be a ground loop with the zip and MPC. Try isolating the zip power supply on a different circuit than the MPC and see if that helps.

Yeah i tried it with the zip out and it sounds cleaner why is why i ask if that was normal. It could just be my imagination playing tricks on my while im isolating on the noise. this is due to the noise never being the same.

did some research and found some people said this "noise" is normal and some saying i need to adjust the a/d d/a converters to clear it up. any opinion on this?

I'll admit I'm not an expert on the MPC2000XL but "adjusting" the a/d converters? Sounds like someone is talking out of their rear end. Circuits generally don't need adjusting - carburetors need adjusting.

Sorry, i forgot to mention i have a mpc60II. As for the adjusting the converters, i found it in the service manual, i am going to calling forat to find out more about it. i will do a follow up.

What type of adjustment are you talking about?

Will this affect the sampling quality in a better or worse way?

Found out it was a ground problem, all is good. if you are having problems with noise in the background, test the mpc with this method to determine if its a problem with the mpc or if its a problem with the source.

in the record screen, turn threshold down to 0 and record, if you hear the same "noise" then its the mpc. if you dont hear the "noise" then the problem is with the source. if its a problem with the mpc be prepare to cash out some dough to source the problem, that is if you want to fix it.
