I recently bumped up my style of beat-making - Particularly in the Drums section - With every track I do, I normally will begin by layering my Kicks and Snares with various samples - for example 808's and other Kicks and Snares - the result = deeper, heavier, warmer feeling sounds that bang like their supposed to - Every sound that I add to the foundation of say a Kick will normally have gone through a signal processor and then sampled (which would have made the sound more grungier, darker, vintage or whatever feel I might be looking for, for the day
The outcome: My drums sound exactly how I want them to - although because of the added fx (echoes, flang, compression, etc.) - It seems as though the MPC cannot handle or process all the triggers - for example:
say I have a drum track, bass track and my main sampled loop
everything’s good, but when I say add some extras like maybe a cymbal, hi-hat, another snare or whatever - as I hit the pad my sampled loop might cut off right in the middle of playing or my bass track may cut off (as if the MP can't handle everything at once and therefore compensates by cutting something else
the cut sounds will resume once they are scheduled to play again in the loop - but if I repeat the process the same thing will occur
Is it time to step up to that MV-8800 because I need a more powerful machine or what? - hope somebody's dealt with this
