Deal or no deal?

A girl I produce for is offered a contract at a small record label. That label has let us (me, this girl and a few friends of mine) know that they are intrested in us all. But non of us is really feelin the label and the artist who are signed there. We try to stay independent as possible. But if we cooparate with the label, we can use their studio and other services. This could really take us to a higher level, because we are not yet in a situation to start our own label.

So I was wondering what's the best thing to do? Maybe the label and us can negotiate for another type of agreement? And what type of agreement do I need as the beatmaker/ producer? Cause I want to keep the owners rights and c some roalty fee's as well.

Write down exactly what you need and want from them, and a few extra goodies.... then, write down what you think they really need or what you want to give them in return to make what you want happen.... Make sure its negotiable though. But I definitely wouldnt lock in with a label where you dont like the artist or etc... about the label. Thats like joining a gay fraternity and you like coochie, yall cant kick it together and holla at females, cause their interests are different.

stay solo. Working with people you don't like but owe favors and contract obligations is a real pain in the neck. It will bring to much negativity into your realm.

Yeah, you are right about that.... just get paid for what you want to happen and make it happen.... Oweing favors is a pain in the a$$
