Third Party MPC 500 OS!

What it do fellaz, I was whipping thru the net today and found a website where you can ask a programmer to build any type of operating system. So i submitted a request for a programmer to develop a jjos or better os for the 500. Of course you have to pay to get it done. Im waiting for a response. I also typed that if it could be developed we would be willing to pay for it. So if you wanna check out the website and maybe leave the same requests, maybe we could get somethin poppin.

I'm aware of this site. Here's the problem. Even if you were able to find someone willing to do this for a reasonable price, he would have to be a beatmaker himself -- an extremely proficient one, who would understand the nuances of what we need. The reason JJOS is so good, as I understand it, is because it was programmed by a former Akai engineer.

In other words, this isn't going to happen, and if it does -- it will suck. The default OS after the last update isn't really bad anyway . . .

TRUE, BUT I JUST THRU IT OUT THERE TO SEE IF I COULD GET SOMEONE ON THE LINE, YOU NEVER KNOW WHO OUT THERE THAT CAN DO IT, YOU FEEL ME!

Aside from buying a higher end MPC I don't see too many improvements that can be done on the current 500 mpc except maybe make it where it saves the fx & pass filters. Even that don't bother me cuz I always record my track in the same session and it's all over... Many peeps be wantin a chop shop on the 500...I seriously doubt that will ever happen due to the screen design.... I'd say to all the peeps that want a better OS and are "willing to pay for it" just go ahead and upgrade to a higher end mpc... and then discover a whole new set of missing features you would like! lol

Just buy a 1000 or 2500

I am aware that it's not possible to save the pass filters that have been implemented in the OS upgrade, but I thought that FX settings could be saved and recalled when doing an entire memory dump. Have I misunderstood? Being unable to save fx settings would be a deal breaker for me.

The mpc500 can do the same things as the mpc1000 if the software is rewritten.

HAHA! No, i mean music wise.

Well there is that wave display thingy.

I imagine there are some other functions that wouldn't be quite the same with the display limitations. Plus less pads & stuff.

Well, if the software is rewritten a new screen can be chosen. It's just to plug it in and code the hell out of this little box.

the mpc 500 has only 2 outs and that tiny screen. Whats the point. Just get a 1000/up

you only need a data output pin and a read/enable pin, which the 500 has.
