Is there a correct way of switching the MPC1000 off?

I've had the machine for a couple months but I couldn't help thinking that just taking it to the 'main' screen and hitting the power button might not be the right way to switch it off.

Why? You expect a screen saying "You can now turn off your MPC"?

Well, you could try hitting one of the other buttons to turn it off but I don't think you'll get the same effect....

I wondered the same thing when I got mine.

I've thought the same thing. Because when your on a computer your not supposed to just push the power button to completely shut it off. Instead you have to click shut down so it can bring itself down, if you notice that after you do it the computer takes a minute toturn off.

Exactly. My thoughts were that it's an abrupt action in a volatile work environment and that it's not a good look for the circuitry. If it's the only way of doin it though, I guess it's not a problem.

Just bang it till it turns off.

You're imagining it's a "real" computer running multitasking meggabloatware.

I wouldnt switch it off while i´m writing/reading data to/from my internal HD.
Else i never cared, never had any troubles.

Just yank out the power cord off of the back. Shuts down immediately.
