Bump....
A feature that needs to be enhanced immedicately is the SAMPLE EDITING MENU. Akai/Numark needs to take a look at how JJ implemented Chop Shop as well as what Roland has done.
I was at Guitar Center last night playing with the Fantom G. Sample editing on that keyboard as well as the Fantom X and MV-8800 are amazing. Specifically, I love the Scrolling Cursor that shows you which part of the sample is actually playing. This makes sample editing a breeze. Also, when it comes to chopping/slicing samples...Roland products allow you to ADD/DELETE Sample Slice Points while using this Scrolling Cursor. Every time you add a slice point, it instantly assigns that new slice to a pad.
Additionally, sample zooming in/out could be better implemented. I would like to be able to zoom in/out on a sample without having to enter OPEN WINDOW which pulls up another MENU. Akai/Numark could simply use the 4 cursor buttons or the Step/Bar buttons to allow zooming in/out on a sample. JJ OS nicely implements this feature.
I believe these suggestions would be a significant improvement to the MPC 5000. After using the JJ OS for some time now, I hate using the MPC 5000 for chopping. JJ's Chop Shop is like 4.0 compared to the MPC 5000s Chop Shop 2.0.
That's real talk......
