Why isn't my high filter sticking after saving?

Okay, I've done plenty of beats that use both the high and low filter on my MPC -- but I can't figure out what's going on with this one beat I'm doing.

I'm working across all four banks, and have maybe -- 4 samples running through the low pass. Any samples I set with a high pass do not stick after saving though. The samples will be there -- but they will be set to LP 100. I've never had this problem with any other beats -- just this one.

Any ideas? Sure I can go in and tweak the high pass on those 3 samples that use it every time I load the beat up, but that's pretty annoying. It's all strange that I'm only having this problem with this particular beat.

Are you saving the beat in it's own folder and selecting "Save Entire Memory"? At least that's how it's done on other MPC's to make sure that you do save everything. Also select the "replace all" option too if it has it.

Thought I'd answer some "general" questions while I'm browsing this forum. Hopefully that answer applies to the 500.

Yeah, that's how I do all my saving. I've tried a million different things and I can't make it happen no matter what. I think the problem lies in the fact that the original program file was created by REX2MPC, a program that exports Recycle files to MPC program files.

If you can save high pass filter params with other beats not using those files than you are good. Just be aware that when you use REX2MPC files there may be some params you can't save. In that case maybe it's something that can be fixed by whoever codes that program?

If you can't save those params at all...it sounds like an Akai OS bug to me. Cause Save Entire Memory should do the trick.

Yeah like I said, I've done plenty of beats strictly on the MPC with multiple filters going at one on various pads. This is the first time I used REX2MPC last night and I guess I found one of its limitations. No need to fuss over it anymore I guess. One way around it would be doing the filtering on my Mac and then assigning the filtered version to a pad. I'll shoot an E-Mail to the developer and see. He doesn't seem to officially support the 500 so who knows.

That's probably the reason. And given the fact that the HPF is a brand new feat. to the 500...

Bedouin: there's a bug in the new OS, which resets the HPF settings to default value after saving. The LPF settings can be saved, though. So, just have to wait till akai programmers fix this bug.

It's weird though 'cause ever since 1.30 I've saved plenty of beats with both a hi and low pass filter running simultaneously and this is the first time it's gone haywire. All of my other beats with both filters load up fine and as expected. . .

Could you upload a program with both HPF and LPF settings different from the default values? Just for ppl to test on their machines.

This bug has been discussed here not so long ago, I guess.

I hope they fix this soon. It`s annoying saving anything, knowing that it won`t still be there when you load it up again.

Alright, you guys were right. The hi-pass wasn't sticking on my other beats either, it's just that on those the difference in sound was so minimal that I never noticed it when loading it a second time. The last beat I did really relied upon a hi-pass for one of the samples and it became very blatant.

It wasn't added until 1.30 and it wouldn't save your HP filter settings until 1.31. Most stores are going to go with the initial PR material Akai sent them, so it's not likely to change for a while.
