MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

why did i buy it? because I can..
and if i dont like it, throw it in the closet and not care.. like i said the $ spent is nothing. i can spend that on sneakers in 5 minutes.. my issue was the principle.

Please Just Blaze, you don't have to show boat here. Most likely we don't have the money you got. But, I think everyone here is doing ok for themselves to afford a mpc.

i bet my blah blah blah that if akai had given..:
did you read the bottom of my post? akai had actually just called me (for the 2nd time) not long ago in regards to doing something for the mpc and i just hadnt gotten back to them.. like i said when i walked by guitar center i just got the urge and made an impulse buy. and was disappointed by the purchase.

If you feel this strongly about the bugs in the mpc5k and cared about the consumers. You'll call those folks back and tell them whats on your mind. This is your chance to show boat and show us what you working with. Don't let the third call get past you. Let your opinion be heard loud and clear. This is like Star Wars. You got the force Luke.

yes i am.. and if you read the full statement, i also referred to the fact that most of the products i have beta tested were products that had not been released. the 4000 had bugs when it came out, yes. but they were miniscule in comparison to my experience with the 5000 and did not take away from my overall workflow.

It doesn't really matter if you are Just Blaze or not....but the statement you make about the MPC 4000 is so untrue. The first OS updates for the MPC 4000 had my machine crashing all the time. I don't have the same problem with the MPC 5000.

Also if you are going to rant..at least let the people know what OS you are using and what caused the specific crash if you really care about an OS update. Feel free to use the Bug Thread that is a sticky in the forum.

It is the latest OS.. im not spending time posting something in another forum though. im not making this a regular thing and ive done my part.
and to be honest.. other than (what i think was) a pitch/polyphony issue with the first release of the 4000, i never had issues, especially with subsequent updates.

Communication is definately key for the future...

For sure people rant publicly for all kinds of reasons and one of them is often that they don't feel the company will take a blind bit of notice any other way.

It sucks that a bunch of people who generally want to evangelise about a product, can't!

...it sucks even more that Akai don't seem to realise the value of that either.

As far as software/hardware goes - one of the biggest changes has been how responsive, open and communicative the newer players are. Take a look at the Reaper DAW forums - for sure it's not Cubase etc but people feel that they get listened to and in general seem happier and go on to tell everyone they know to give reaper a try... ...same goes for various vst/vsti makers

...hell, even the unofficial E-mu forums have and unofficial E-mu guy that pops by time to time lol

...yet with Akai at the moment I'm a little wary of recommending an MPC to people & I feel I have to add on all sorts of caveats like "watch out for X" or "check it does all that you need right now - don't expect x,y or z in future"

I want to see another MPC yet I have a few problems about the direction it will or should take and whether it'll be worth it, both feature wise and the hassle, if it ever appears.

no showboating.. someone asked why i bothered to buy something that i thought wasnt going to be super great to begin with.. and that was the answer.. not showing off..thats just the honest answer. obviously most if not all of you here can afford an MPC.. thats why you are here. if u guys knew me ud know thats just how i am.. can be a gift and a curse.. i get curious, buy something, and forget about it 2 days later... which results in me having a LOT of brand new and barely ever used gadgets and toys.. im considering a ebay fire sale or a raffle or something lol. but yeah i was moreso putting myself in the position of someone who CANT afford to do that, and if i were them id be super burnt.. which in turn is what made me angry in the first place.

and as far as the calls from akai.. i was referring to endorsement type stuff.. not design related.. however it appears my open letter/rant has already been read by the big boys. if they decide to reach out and try n make something happen.. it is on them. im all ears tho, and MORE than willing to help. I'd love to be a part of helping make a true successor to the 4000.

Askia Shaheed wrote:Tell Just Blaze to make sure that he is using the latest OS and that he doesn't have to load the synth patches one by one. You can actually load an entire folder of patches at once

But yeah...there are plenty of things I have found wrong with the MPC 5000 but that is what you get when you agree to buy a new MPC early in the game.

already addressed point 1..
and as far as point 2.. this is actually my point. it wasn't always like that.. ppl have come to EXPECT things like this..and that is for lack of a better phrase, NOT cool.

Can't agree with that, it was a valid point.
I want to state right here that that was no way meant to be snidey at all.
I have the greatest respect for Just Blaze and will always seek out and buy his work.
I just wanted to make a point.
Not happy and feel patronised to be honest :x
I honestly feel that my post was deleted in order to 'lets not p*ss off Just Blaze, we want to keep him posting here'
I don't think that he even would have been p*ssed off either. I'm sure he would be man enough to fight his own [extremely minor] battle.
Ridiculous

Well reading his posts, I don't think he was planning on staying for long - the point has been made, the traffic will be high, the opinion is now 'out there'.

Interesting to see that your post was removed with a reason given, whereas a post I made earlier in the thread mysteriously vanished!

I'm an MPC2500 jj os2 owner and logic user, i'm looking to upgrade but i'm still seperated between getting an 5k or getting a 4k. "Just Blaze" could you elaborate more on the good things you found in the MPC5000. Thanks

As of today after reading some of the replies ... im really coming to grips that its a lot of Bull$hitters on this forum... some of who may half keep it real, and others who dont wanna acknowledge the real facts... alot of you are starting to sound like the Akai tech support guy that I spoke to yesterday, who dont really use these machines, but rather troubleshoot em(see if it does what you say you had a problem with, while you are giving him instructions on how you did it, which are in the manual, and him finally co-signin saying it doesnt work).

First of all, not to be on the nutz of JustBlaze, but for those of you to be using a "MPC", that dont know and respect this so called name... just google him or check out the Youtube vids of him choppin up samples on the MPC

Also SCD, that quote was kinda jacked about calling this man a boy. Can we please maintain respect if anything on these forums.

Anyone have a beef about me editing threads to keep them on topic, please use PM - please stop adding more junk to this thread. I am currently trying to keep all these 5000 threads focused on the original subject matter, so would appreciate people stop straying - lets keep the message clear and focused and hopefully we'll see a new OS appear sooner rather than later

And for the record, I didn't delete that post to suck up to Just Blaze - anyone who knows me knows I don't bother sucking up to anyone, and the dude has already made it clear he isn't sticking around (can't even confirm it's him anyway). Anymore posts off topic will get deleted - once again, use PM if you feel the need to shout at me...

And to the other poster whose post disappeared, I don't think anything sinister happened there, I just merged three separate threads together and some posts got removed as they didnt really make sense after the merging.

Bottom line . I aint never going to buy another MPC. My 3000 and my 60 hold me down quite nicely. For those who still want to mess with Akai/Numark and their bullshit. Good Luck

Sample, Truncate, Sequence............ Rock 1 MPC, Rock them all

Like everything, it's just a matter of time until this machine works as intended. Hopefully it will happen soon rather than later. I think it has great potential (I own one) it's just not there yet, and well that sucks but I have faith that eventually it will rock my tits.

The price tag is **** ridiculous though, I spent $2,500 on it plus the ram which was 150! good god son of christ help my finances.
