That's the reason why Future Music mag has rated it as one revolutionary software DAW that changed the whole approach to music-making. I've been with it since the 1st version and I like it a lot. Of course there always have been issues with sound quality and stuff, but I've learned so much with Reason! One thing that I've learned is that it's only the tool, it is not supposed to make music for you. The same with MPC, by the way.
I agree with you about Reason. It's studio rack look gives you a feel for what working with the real thing would be like. It gave me an idea of how compressors work, how to play around with chaining different things together, different EQ extremes and such. I not knocking it. Chances are it's going to end up back in my workflow at some point, but right now I'm really attached to the MPC -- especially using my DR-202 to generate bass tones, which was all I ever needed the synths in Reason for anyway.
If I buy an outboard compressor and something like a Micro Korg I really can't see myself using Reason again at all though.
