Mono or Stereo

Another short question from a new MPC60-user:

I use a Y-Adapter from stereo chinch (mixer) to a mono plug (mpc). I read somthing about distorting the sound and killing frequencies using this method.

So... use a Y-adapter? Just a "stereo chinch to stereo plug"-cable? Or just use a mono 1/4 plug from mixer to mpc (my rane-mixer has 2 mono 1/4 outs for left/right) and panning?

If you use a Y conector, it will kill all frequencies. Go try/error that. You can only choose which of the two channels to samples. No big difference though and sometimes better cause you get to pick the best channel when the original recording is panned.

The only way to find out is to experiment with it, use different connections and stick with the best.
Did you ever turned the pan knob while the mixer is connected via the Y Cable?
Try that, then you got the answer to your question.
