pls help fix my problem

i turned on my mpc 4k today and i heard clicking sounds as i went to load my samples it says disk: no drive? pls let me know what might have happened and how i can correct this problem i have some samples backed up on my external hd but other than that i cant even load them?

I hate to say it, but your hd might be shot. Do you know if it had the stock IBM deskstar drive? These are known to go on you especially if they're left on for extended periods of time & the drive was never put on the "no spin" feature (they were sh!t drives from the start anyway).

Maybe try opening the unit and reseating the hd's connections, ie: the ide & power cables. If still no luck, look forward to replacing it.

But it sounds like you're good to go on that backup. Once you've installed your new drive, you can use ak.sys to ease the copying of your files if you choose to do so.

ok I'm going to just replace it,if it's not difficult I'll prob do it myself,where can I purchase a hard drive that's comparable with the factory drive? Also what do they cost?
