SAE Institute

I'm thinking about going to this school for audio engineering so I want to know if anyone on here has went here or know someone that did. I plan on going to the one in Miami. heres the link, http://www.sae-miami.com

is a nice thing i also was thinkin bout to do this but it cost round 16000 € :S ! the problem is that chu make SAE but u dont know if u will work as a soundengineer

Don't waste your time. You're better off getting a job at a recording studio making coffee and getting food for clients.

I went to a similar school, and every studio I applied for a job at told me that they didn't care that I went to school and would prefer that I hadn't. The engineers at the studio will train you, when they're in a pinch and need some help.

truthfully..don't even THINK of going there, is true studios dont care wether you went to school for it or not..if you really want to pursue some sort of training..your best bet is either NYU program or Queens borough community college..they both give you degrees not crappy "certificates"

I dont think its a bad idea, I mean, the learning and understanding of how it actually works is always nice.... But, I wouldnt expect it to get me a job after you get your Degree or Certificate in it. Too many things are better than experience besides, experience and the book sense combined :shock: . So Like Rick said in another post, you probably are going to come out doing a lot of interning and then are able to get your own jobs once you get that actual experience up under your belt.

a friend of mine went there and said is was a waste of time and money.all the knowledge you get there can be read and expierienced for a part of the money you have to spend....
also I`m from germany I don`t think their programs are different.
Haven`t ever heard something good about the SAE,everybody I know had issues with them.even the jam session has no good reputation....

go for it!

there is an SAE schol in liverpl that i`ve looked into, its a reputable school and i don`t see why peole are dissing the chance to do something u enjoy.

any qualifications will help you

yeah its probably nothing compared to working in a studio with a full time modern producer but we all got to start somewhere, and it shows u know the basics, understand the gear and most of all are willing to learn.

no dissrespect to anyone on here but any education and qualification will stay with you for life and only aids in making you a better person, who do u think the producer will be more interested in letting sit in on a studio and help out and make t etc.. someone straight of the street , or someone who a mate recomended from the SAE college?

what u got to loose, go for it

just make sure the school is acredited, youll prolly be spendin about 8 Gs a quarter or semester for classses and stuff, unless you already have money like that.

waste of time and massive waste of money...11 000 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i got 4 friends, (one is currently there) with sae diploma
i am talking bout london, camden town
only one got job as a se, after 5 years of starvation, beeing jobeless, etc

If you're trying to work independent then you may want to go ahaead and get a degree or certificate or something. Still you have to make good music because your work speaks for itself. Artists are going to want to know you do good work but they are more inclined to spend if they see you have that extra knowledge to back you up.

Something to fall back on would be a college degree, not a certificate, imo.
