Why no automatic track loop on MPC?

user doesn't have the option right now, as Akai never implemented it.

Plus it should be fairly easy to program in. Just add another variable to the Track structure to hold the data point of "track length". Then every bar, do a check to see if the end of the "Track Length" has been reached, and if it has, then start at the beginning of the Tracks sequence. Obviously there is a bit more to it then that, but that's the main jist of it.

You can't blame him. If a Musician needs specific item and the current
manufacturer doesn't provide it, then he may need to move on to a manufacturer
who does provide it. That's what I've been telling Akai all along.

Luckily my P3 does this and sits nicely next to my 4000, so I can get by the 4000's limitiation by using more then 1 sequencer.

I personally don't think using variant Track Lengths is that much of a freak feature. It actually makes more common sense to me then manually copying out tracks to match up . Plus if you want to get Polyrhythms going, you pretty much need this.

I too am very much waiting in anticipation of the LinnDrum II and have already sent a few idea to Roger... But I'm in full belief that the LInnDrumm II won't be replacing my
4000 as well. Back to my embedded C and embedded DSP programming books...

I dont think its a freak feature at all. In fact, when working in loop mode in the MPC, its completely limiting and time consuming that you cant do this. I hope the LinnDrum 2 has this. Otherwise I will buy a Motif XS mainly for its sequencer, how mad is that? I mean, in the MPC, imagining you copy all your stuff manually, and then chain your patterns together in song mode.... well what happens if you want to add a linear part or 2 over the entire length of your song? Answer, you cant do it! Great for 16 bar beats, not so great for full, evolving songs.

I too am always going on about the lack of real proper linear sequencing and individual track lengths in the MPC. Im glad to hear Im not the only "freak"

Can anyone tell me what the QY sequencers are like to work with?

Actually you *can* do this particular thing on the 5k, by converting your song into a new sequence and than add tracks again. I know, it is not the feature talked about here, but the specific thing you describe above is possible. I use it all the time, creating a song, being happy, and thinking the next day: "but I should have had that pad going on from here to there". I just convert the song to a sequence.

Restriction: you have to have your instruments on the same tracks in every seperate sequence. Otherwise the conversion of the song in songmode to one sequence will go wrong of course.

Good one. I will enter this in the feature request list.
A switch (per track) that enters a copy/delete function (per track)
Set to ON: if you extend a track from 2 to 5 bars: the mpc will copy bar 1 and 2 to bar 3 and 4 and will copy bar 1 again to bar 5.
If you decrease the tracklength, the removed bars will be emptied. from all data.

Set to OFF: MPC behaves as it is now.

Agree? Sounds like do-able to me. I like the idea.
