NEWBIE QUESTION.....SAMPLING

I've stepped up from a ASR-X to a 4000.Can someone breakdown the easiest way to put what i sampled onto different pads. The sliced sample and regions stuff. I wasted too much time in a session last night and I don't want to go through that (and possible loss of earnings) again. All of your input would be greatly appreciated.

Tip: MPC4000 works with programs (keyboard - or drumprogram).

ok set ur regions(how many 1-32) then slice in the slice sample page it offers u to make a program or sequence choose make program-yes and the samples will be placed across the pads just like the asr-10 keys

I have another question. You know, how after you sample something, and on the sample list screen it will let you hear the different octaves of the sample depending on wht bank you use. How can I get those to transfer to the main screen when I want to use them for a track. And when I save a sample will it save it the way I chopped it up or do I have to save each individual sample.

thats different pitch u can use the 16 level feature or use a keygroup program.....

when u do your chop and yoouve selected make a program that program well be saved as it is.. so the answer to your question is yes

OK...SO LET'S SAY AFTER I HAVE SAMPLED SOMETHING AND I HAVE GENERATED A PROGRAM HOW DO I APPLY THE PROGRAM TO THE MAIN SCREEN SO IT CAN BECOME A TRACK. BECAUSE I WILL HIT THE PADS AND THE SAMPLE WON'T PLAY. DO I HAVE TO TURN THE PROGRAM FOM OFF TO 1 THRU WHATEVER?

Go to Main Page and go to the track. At the track you will see part press the cursor to the part number and turn until you see the program you want and press do it. Now the program is set to the part.

Second way is to go to the multi page and press keygroup button. Now you will see a list of part numbers just assign a program to the part you wish. Go back to the main page, go to the track assign the part which includes the program.

there have been times when i will go to the main page...go to the part field...move the cursor over and i will use the dial to pull up the sample that i want to use. but the only time it has ever shown up is when i have choped the sample and and said yes to the sequence AND program then it will show up in the part area. do i always have to assign it to a sequence(i.e. the slice sample screen)? Just bare with me...i don't want to seem like i'm asking the same question over and over again. I just want to make sure that i'm doing it right. And again, thanks for the help.

You can say no to sequence and yes to program to assign to a part.

I order samples need to be in a program to organize all the sounds, next the program has to be in a multi to organize several programs. In a mulit you assign a program to a part. In the main page the sequencer assigns a part to a track. Now when you play a note int the sequencer the sequencer plays the the notes which in turn plays the sample,
