multitrack/ Logic express question

Ok I have 2 questions and Im trying to figure out which would be better. (everyone has their own preferences) but I would also Like some opinions.


1) say I make a beat on the mp1000 and saved all the info on the cf card, could I load it up on a (cf compatible) multrack recorder (tascam dp02 for example), assign all the sounds on a track, and mix them like that?

2) Or, same as number 1, but instead load it up into Logic Express and mix out in there?


Now I know some might easily say Logic, for the simple fact that I can do much more on it as far as effects and whatnot but i dont like the whole idea of clicking away at the mouse. Im hands on.

With that said can anyone post their opinions?

think of the mpc as a multitimberal instrument. you have to record each sound/sample/track/pad seperatly into the hd recorder or logic and mix from there.

here's one way you can transfer tracks on the mpc1000 cf card to logic express.

record/resample each of your tracks as audio tracks using direct record. you'll end up with a, say four bar, sample of each of your tracks. save them to the cf card, connect the usb cable and drag them into logic express to mix and chop as you please.

Yo good tip thanx. Whats bugging me out is that I saw a real quick vid on the Tascam dp02, and dude on the vid was showing how you can export tracks ( in wav form) and all that stuff and showed how you can import stuff back in it ( wav files). So!.. my thing is if I could convert each track into a wav file, wouldnt I be able to save it on the cf card and then load it up in the Tascam (cf version. they have a cd and a cf version)? I dont know why it keeps running trhough my mind. Plus, I dont wanna buy it, try it out and return it. So any help and thoughts?

yeah you could do that. its called resampling. basically you are recording the main outs from the mpc to itself. not sure why you would want to do that if you could record the tracks to the recorder itself. from what ive read resampling reduces quality, but i dont know that for sure.

it would take the same amount of time to track to the recorder as it would to resample since you have to listen to it either way. there is no way to render or convert the data to audio like some daws do.
