I got my ADAT board today in the mail (all the way from Japan). So after picking up my son from day care I excitedly went home as quick as I could.

I carefully opened the MPC4000 (which I had unplugged of course) and put in the board on top of the 8 analogue out board that was already in there...when it was in I turned on the MPC....it booted up just fine, all the lights went on the hard drive started spinning but....no screen. I remembered that the flimsy flat cable to the screen gets lose quite easily so I quickly put it back in....

The scereen turns on (I see the back light) but I still get no picture. The MPC seems to boot up (the lights burn and when you press buttons their leds go on)....What should I try next? Could I have broken something?

So....... with the MPC turned on, you connected the LCD ribbon?

*shakes head in disbelief* I hope I am wrong but, sounds like you just F'ed up your LCD display. I have personally seen a LCD screen get ruined by someone connecting the ribbon cable while the unit was on.

No, I did not put it in with the power switched on (the cable) and I did check if it is put in correctly - there is power going to the screen (it lights up) but it stays black (no signal?)...

I'm pretty much out of options - I think it's time to find a good repair shop. :(

Bazziman, I know it sounds silly, but did you turn the contrast dial to see if it clears up? Just curious.
If not, I agree with adrian that you accidently damaged something in the display or it's ribbon cable(hopefully just the ribbon cable).

Just trying to help where I can,

Unfortunately it's not the ribbon cable. I got a message from a repair guy here in the Netherlands who explained its possibly one or two SMD transistors that I blew up somehow...he'll be able to fix it though and I'm sending my baby off to him.

I was *so* depressed yesterday. Thanks for trying to help me out guys, that kinda helped.

Swinsta that happened to me twice. But both times the mpc was fine letting it rest an hour and then trying again. Maybe that wont help you, just thought I'd let you know eitherway.
