Askia Shaheed wrote:#8 Copy Folder Issue

1. I tried copying a folder (which contained a folder filled with samples) from the CD Rom drive to the hard drive
2. I was able to PASTE the folder to the hard drive, but the folder within the folder was empty
3. However, I have sucessfully copied and pasted a single folder with samples from the CD drive to the hard drive

I am not sure if this qualifies as a bug or a limitation

I tried the same with an Akai S1000 compatible CD (single character folders in root folder like A, B, C..., numbered folders below, starting with '#', containing also characters like '+'). It's not possible to copy anything structured like this to the harddrive but to the CF card. Additionally after copying one of these directories no other directory can be copied. After a few seconds a screen like 'Could not find <filename> on' appears. There's not further text after 'on'. Switch the unit off and on again you can go on copying, but only one (root) directory and only from CD drive to CF card. (OS updated to 1.01).

BTW Akai support mentioned another OS release coming soon.

I don't know if it's a bug or a lack of features: copying/moving folders on the same device is not possible. Sometimes even I make a mistake and need to mount the drive, move folders around and unmount again. (Anyone noticed, that if you have a CF card plugged in you can see both drives, MPC's harddisk and the CF card - very good.)

Even after a format ( with the mpc ) of my CF card i m still unable to delete FOLDERS on it.
Deleting ........ But nothing happens

Deleting individual files works fine though

Sony CF card 66X10mb/s 2GB NCFB2G

I'm wondering how you get the CF card out again. If nothing happens...you can't switch off without risky hickups (remember that you have to unmount such cards when using with the PC. Maybe the MPC needs some time to flush some cache). Sometimes even empty folders on my CF cards need a while to be removed (10-20sec). (Using 2G hama highspeed something card.)

Update, coming soon... could mean forever

The Mounting of the CF Card and the MPC 5000 is mentioned in the Manual

I'm having a problem don't know if it a bug. What's happening is that when I set up all my sequences and programs, I do a save all memory, or save all sequences & songs, for some reason the mpc alters two of my sequences making them go bezzerk. When I load everything again, they're wack!

but if I load them one at a time they're ok

Anyone know what might be going on?

The sequence is completley wrong,
Imagine I wave an 8 bar intro with a bass loop, bass drum and shaker
the bass won't play, it will come in the 8th bar, then go away again, etc

it happens in two of my sequences, but not on the others.
It's really weird

What I meant was: if he presses delete and nothing happens, then switches of the device or pulls out the card...how can one be sure, that the card is in good condition?

Don't know if someone mentioned it already: If you press "Track Mute" while a song plays you can't return to Song mode. But you can switch sequences with 2nd page of "Track Mute" menu...quite useful but unusual if you do this for the first time. (I tried to play different sequences in a row=my song and mute the various tracks while playing to make it more live.)

Askia Shaheed wrote:#3 Multi-timbral Mode Bug

1. Set MPC 5000 to Multi-timbral mode
2. Assign a synth program to track 1 and set the track to MIDI 1A
3. Assign a different synth program to track 2 and set the track to MIDI 1B
4. Try sending MIDI data to both MIDI INs (A and B) at the same time
5. The two programs don't always play together. Sometimes, one of programs will sustain or a note will get stuck.

When thuis function is working correctly, it should sound as if your are playing a layered synth program.

Askia Shaheed wrote:#4 Pad sensitivity bug

1. The pad sensitivty menu isn't behaving properly.
2. While in this menu, I press the FULL LEVEL key.
3. When I hit a pad, it doesn't always register a velocity of 127 as it should no matter how soft you hit a pad.
4. The MPC 2500 (both Akai and JJ OS) will register a velocity of 127 (while in the pad sensitivity mode) when FULL LEVEL is turned on.

Askia Shaheed wrote:#5 MPC 2500 compatibility bug?

1. Using MPC 2500 (Akai OS 1.23), create a sequence and program and save ALL Programs/Samples to a CF card
2. Insert the CF card into MPC 5000
3. Try to load the MPC 2500 ALL FILE from the CF card
4. Choose Load single SEQ
5. The MPC 5000 can not load the single SEQ and will display "Invalid File on CF"

Additional notes: The MPC 5000 will load an MPC 2500 (Akai OS 1.23)ALL FILE....just not an individual SEQ within an ALL FILE. Also, the MPC 5000 has problems loading programs and sequences created using the JJ OS.

Now back to the program already in progress......

#6 Track mute recording bug?

1. Create a 2 track sequence about 4 bars in length, setting the sequence to LOOP
2. Go into TRACK MUTE screen
3. Press RECORD/PLAY
4. At BAR 3, hit the pad the MUTES TRACK 1
5. When the sequence loops back to BAR 1, TRACK 1 is still muted

Using the MPC 2500, Akai OS 1.23, recording a single TRACK MUTE will produce two events...one turning TRACK MUTE ON and the other TRACK MUTE OFF. So using the above steps, at BAR 1, TRACK 1 will play and at BAR 3, the TRACK 1 will be muted. When the sequence loops back around to BAR 1, TRACK 1 will play again.

OS 1.02 fixes this bug.

When saving a project the reloaded project doesn t remember the MIDIOUT channels used in the tracks :S

Very boring when you use a lot of hardware & have to re set every midichannel once the project is loaded.
