Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

What's up my name is Ozzie and this is my first time posting something on this forum. Well my reason for my post was to see if ya can help me with a problem that I have with my MPC 2000XL. My last four pads on the MPC don't play no sounds or even allow me to load up sounds on them and when I try to step record it doesn't even show that I'm playing the pad . So has anybody had this problem before, did I turn some thing off that I'm not aware of or did my pads break on the MPC and need to take it to get repair unless ya know way for me to fix it on my own with out spending any money then le me know.

One Love
Ozzie

P.S.
Can ya hit me back a.s.a.p. so I can know if I should go get fix .

Open the unit. There is an integrated 'ribbon cable' that connects to the circuitboard. It simply presses in place.

Carefully pull it out of it's 'socket' and clean with contact cleaner such as deoxit, or even just rubbing alchohol if you have some
(I recommend denatured alchohol as it will not leave residue, however Deoxit is best. Gold, G5)

My buddy had one doing the same thing.

After I went through and gave it the standard cleaning of all contacts, including the ribbon for the pad sensor, it works fine.

To be specific, his was the top 4 that failed. Good old cleaning was all it took. The contacts corrode.
