What yall think. I've never even messed with a 2500 but it's gotta be more stable than the 5000 right now. I can't even free up space on the 5000 after loading samples. It's like once they are loaded they are permanent until you reboot. Does the 2500 have this problem. I was thinking of maybe getting the 2500 and a newer Triton.

Get the 2500 with JJ bro. You will not be dissapointed or regret it. If you want to see what a Midi Production Center is capable of...Go for it!

2500/w JJOS2 + Keyboard/Rack or Reason 4 = 1 Dangerous Machine

Thanks man. I believe I am going to, this 5000 is getting on my last nerves. The whole erase thing is what pisses me off. If I load and chop a sample then realize its not right for the drum pattern, I gotta save the drum pattern because even if I delete/purge the whole sliced program it will not give me any free space back. It may say it did in disk mode but you'll find out it didn't when you try to play or load a sample. **** ridiculous. You'd think after paying $3000 the damn erase and purge would at least work. I gotta turn off my mpc and back on to get free space back.

Youze a funny dude you went from 4k to 5k and now to 25k in less than 5 to 6 months you got that much money to spend??? But that ok post your 5k online and I`m sure either a vet or newcomer will pick it up and say the exact opposite. Patience is a virtue but ultimately you have to settle for the tool that fits you and your OWN WORKFLOW best of luck and more power to you.

You are the captain of your ship. Not the gear. You+sounds+tools=1 Dangerous Composer/Musician/Producer/Creater

Man be patient !!

The memory freeing problem can be easly soved with an update ( the update is around the corner ...)

Use the bug report thread to report the bug.

Of course the 2500 is a good machine but the 5000 is a lot more powerfull.

You would have really been disapointed if you bought an MPC 2500 when it comes out.
There was a lot more bugs than the 5000.

^^That's all you had to say.^^^

I admit I'm a very impatient person blue haze, but the reason I was thinking about getting the 2500 is because it is pretty much a small stable 5k and would give me extra money to get a Triton. You're right I have came on here saying I'm trading my 5k for this and that. I guess it's just frustration because I'll have a tight drum pattern and chop a sample and decide it doesn't fit, try an erase the sliced prog. sample and can't load any other samples and have to turn off and on EVERYTIME I need free space. Hopefully the update fixes it, if not I maybe just sell the MPC and go back to my keyboards and reason haha I get impatience from my Father, wish I was patient but hey what can ya do...

I hear ya. All in all it comes down to you if you feel that the 2500 may be the better fit how about giving it a try like a rental or something for a week or month then if you feel that the 5k isn`t necessary trade it in or better yet let one of your family members hold it (friends may disappear on you or hope you forget you lend it to them) for two weeks and see what happens.

What`s really important is your music and that you have a comfortable workflow. Peace.

I use the 2500 with JJ OS-1 and love it. If I was going to upgrade, it would be to the 4000, but ultimately, the 2500 can do anything I need it to do. Unless you need a synth and a recorder (8 tracks is too limiting in this day and ago tho), the 5000 is too much with too little (costs too much and doesn't offer enough), but if I was just starting out with no gear, I'd definitely buy one.
Used MPC1000($500) + Used synth($300) + Used 8 track recorder($200)=$1000, or the same options as an MPC5000. If you use VST's and computer software to record, subtract $500 and you will have even more options.

If I was going to upgrade, it would be to the 4000,

I tried the 4000 before i bought the 5000...

Filters are not good on the 4000 as well as fx but they are good on the 5000.

the 4000 workflow is quite a pain compared to the 5000.

The 5000 is very very easy to use & fast to work with.

Of course you have keygroups & 24bit on the 4000 but do you really need them ? i don t ...

I didn t buy the 5000 for it s 8 tracks recorder ( i use a computer to record ) but i find the ability to add complete audio tracks to my beats quite cool !

i dont blame you for wanting to switch after all read the just blaze rant.

This review was not honnest at all for me ...it was all impulsive & without any reflection.

And it s not cause " Mister Just Blaze " don t like it that you have to follow...

You bought an MPC 5000 to do like Just Blaze or for ya ?

Everybody has there own workflow. Some can fly on a particular gear and some cannot.

No one is the same. Just find the glove that fits and do you. It is the man not the gear whatever one chooses to use make

your music come alive.

Most importantly give yourself time to master it. For some people are quicker than others but in the end all that matters is your beats bangs.

P.S. certain producers beats really bang so listen, try and learn.

Alternate point of view.

I agree.

Do most people need keygroups? While I would like to have this feature in my MPC 5000, I really don't need it in an MPC. Any standalone hardware sampler provides the same features. Even Reasons have a keygroup programming. 24 bit is highly over-rated in a hardware sampler. I say this because the few 24 bit samplers on the market....are the same ones that quickly fizzled out. 16 bit (CD quality) samplers as well as sound modules have stood the test of time.
