Why do my beats sound diff. on my Mpc compared 2 protools?

Ive been noticing this for a while now. Ok when I make beats I track everything on my MPC 2000xl and then I record each track to pro tools. The beat sounds different when I play it back on the MPC compared to pro tools. It seems to have a more warm type of sound to it and it bangs more when I play it from the MPC. Anyone know what might be wrong? Is this suppose to happen?

Welcome to the crappy sound of protools.

You need to compensate for their chit program by using plug ins like waves. Still not the same but you can get punch back.

What soundcard u using?

Check your outputs on the channels. You might be listening from the master fader and the soundcard. You have to play around with your settings till you get used to what you are monitoring.

Track the same track twice and make sure they're both sync'd properly, I can get mine to sync sufficiently and if I seperate individual drums kik, snare, etc. to pro tools then I lose the groove of the beat. Even if I align them again after it seems to drift out. You using Digi001??

Pro tools is far from a shit program. If it was it wouldn't be a standard. Anytime you are tranfering media some quality will be lost. Maybe your wires are bad? I got a 002 and think it sounds great when you work it right. I had quality issues when I first started using it, but once I got used to recording in it, ever thing sounds crystal clear.

everything still sounds clear, I just dont have that warm sound.

How are you monitoring the MPC before you record it?

i have them play thru the same monitors that pro tools does

I use to own the mbox so i kind of know what your talking about if you have everything hook up right. Its all about the head room the Mbox gives you. If you have your mpc connected to mixer while making beats and then connect it to the mbox youll notice how your mixer board Too Hot lights never light up but with the mbox you have to turn the mpc reall down. Another is dont be shock by the lack of bang and mix that track down and play it outside the mbox and see if it still bangs.

Just make sure you record loud, you got to record loud with the digi001 and mBox to pick up the full frequencies. Let the peaks hit the red. And while your at it I'd probably pick up some sort of little mixer.

DOVESKI is right. Try to record each track as loud as possible without clipping.

nah but i had the same problem with my digi001 till i started recording real loud. i got a nice mixer to (soundcraft 16), that helps. if i get everything right before i record i barely got to touch any compressors or eq once in pro tools.
