Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

I'm trying to figure out why my 500 doesn't trigger 'staccatto' sounding samples as accurately as my 2000?
When you try to trigger them QUICKLY -the notes/samples BLUR together. (It's not the samples, they work fine on the 2000.)

I tried adjusting the one shot, adjusted the decay from 5 to 100, adjusted the velocity, experimented with mute groups, adjusted the polophonic settings..nothing has worked.
Not even close to the 'staccatto' sounding samples I trigger with the 2000.

Is the problem that the 500 will never trigger staccatto sounding samples like the 2000?

Thanks.

Here's a shot at the answer-- the 500 seems to have each pad in the program set to "poly" voice overlap by default. I think this would explain the OP saying the samples "blur together." Try going into the program, and changing the "Voice overlap" parameter for the pad to "Mono."

Any luck?

Hmm, I can't get samples to play quickly enough...? If I play a triplet, when the recorded loop plays back I'll get the first and the third note, or just one of the three. Even if it sounds right when I play it, the timing gets skewed when I hear it played back.

I don't mean to threadjack, I thought this might be a similar issue and didn't want to clog the forums and try to kill two birds with one stone.

*edit* if this isn't exactly related please excuse my ignorance, I'm an mpc newbie.

He probably should just be turning off quantize entirely. The quantization is removing the "off the grid" notes he's playing in real time.

thanks guys(/gals?)
