Just out of curiosity, how much impact does the MPC have on your daily lives?

I know for me, and it may sound weird but...it's pretty much the first thing i touch in the morning when i wake up, all day during the day, and the last thing i sit infront of before going to bed.
If something goes wrong, for example like a bug or it freezing on me, it pretty much dictates how the rest of my day is going to go as i'm usually pretty bothered by what just went wrong with my mpc.

i know i know...i've been locked up in my studio for too long and need to get out... :D

it's a very essential part of my life since i got one. i did have to send it off a few months ago to get the jog wheel fixed and it was hard living without it. but i did buy an xbox 360 the week i had to send it off, :D  :D so i was glued to that while the mpc was gone.

I have 3 kids, a wife, a dog, a mortgage along with many other bills, CHILD SUPPORT, BABY MAMA DRAMA, A house to maintain, a job that I am not to fond of, DJ gigs (Whenever I feel like it / or could use the extra money) And the everyday pressures of life! I LOVE my MPC 2500le but it IS NOT a VITAL part of my life, My whole studio is just a hobby! just a huge PLAYSTATION 10! :)

We're pretty much in the same boat playa. I love my gear but, I could do without it if I had to. Wouldn't want to but could if i had to.

I'm the type of person that will get bored with it and sell everything, Only to go out a year later and buy a whole new setup.
What's crazy is I am sort of feeling that way right now I was talking to my wife about it a few days ago and she told me not to sell it, I think she likes for me to have it because it keeps my @ss at home. But if someone made me a good offer I probably would sell everything. But this time I think I would definately be done with the whole studio thing, But I will DJ till the day I die! It pays better around here, Wannabe Rappers are cheap around here!

Some interesting responses in here...

I plug almost three hours into the mpc on the daily. I have a job, a fitness routine and a relationship with my girlfriend to maintain... beats can wait!

I'm a firm believer in quality over quantity... so I'll push and push and push away on a beat, come back to it a few weeks later and finish it. I have never finished anything in one sitting...

I think that if you have a life, then you will be on these boards for the rest of your life.

I think that if you have no life, then you may actually get round to doing something productive with your MPC.

I fall in to the 1st, slack bastard category.

It can be tough

I spend alot of time of my MPC plus some other ish I got around here.

Although A few months ago I was studying abroad out in Germany. I didn't really miss my mpc (well no scratch that, I missed it alot!), I had brought my Sp 404 with me and that got me by big time. (as far as making music goes, I had way too much fun out there otherwise)

I think what your question is getting at is how tough it can be to be deprived of your instrument(s) of choice that you create music with.
