Bitgrunger Effect @ MPC1k Equals MPC 60

Dear People,

Is there anyone who experimented with the bitgrunger effect on the mpc1000? and is there anyone who really owns both machines? (mpc60&mpc1k)

I really would like to know if you can create the same quality punchy lofi sounds as the mpc60 with te bitgrunger effect on the mpc1k.

I own Both, and I doubt the Bitgrunger on the 1k can replicate the convolution of the 60's A/D D/A Converters. As a Matter of Fact, the Bitgrunger Feel Like a Exagerated Distortion Effect, "Ringy".

^^ exaggerated? I think it's a bit of an understatement. When my friend got his 1k I went over to show him some MPC 101 and I was messing with the effects, and I was impressed by the effects in general, but I was very disappointed in the bit grunger, it makes the sound way too distorted, they went overboard... way overboard with how they did the bit grunger. It's probably the effect I was most interested in hearing and now that I heard it I wish I never laid ears on it in the first place.

for me, the bit grunger does a nice job on my snares, but I set it to 1 or 2.

I don't get the BitGrunger

The Bit Grunger just sounds like it's pumping the Gain,rather than changing the Bit rate. The sample's volume gets way louder as you more and more heavily apply.

It does dirty up snares and kicks pretty well when used subtly.

u can set the bitgrunger from 1 to 8 when its set on 1 ore 2 i think it sounds nice even when used more u can always normalise after a resampled sound...

well, nah - it does sound pretty ruff when cranked all the way, but as a distortion lover i'd say the bit grunger is an interesting addition to the many pedals/fx units i have...

Definately!

However the name suggests it changes the Bit Rate. (can anyone confirm)
That is why I don't understand why it makes the sample louder.

bit grunger is a flowers
everytime I use it , the damn thing just depletes the sound I apply it 2 and lowers everything
I understand the purpose of it, but it depletes TOO much volume and quality.
Akai went overboard on this, they should have put the levels up to 20 and had more detail inbetween each level
Similar to how you can change the tuning, they should have used the same method
