Need to hook up keyboard to mpc

alright guys i need help! well heres my hook up. i got the 2500 and a yamaha mm6 midi keyboard. what i want to do is hook up my keyboard to the mpc so i can record the patterns i make from my keyboard to my mpc sequencer. i've seen people play the keyboard with the keyboard sound coming out of the mpc in real time on youtube, so it can be done. i got a midi cable goin in from the mpc to the keyboards midi out. i even got audio cables hooked up to record in on the mpc and out from the keyboard. on the mpc i got the set up type:midi in, pgm:off, Midi 1a. on the keyboard i got the local set to off. Someone please tell me what i'm doin wrong. oh yea i gotta add something, for some reason when i have the program set to a program that has sounds. i can play those sounds on the keyboard, kinda wierd. jus cant play the sounds on the keyboard to the mpc though.

midi is data, not audio.

With your current set up, the keyboard is merely sending data to the mpc, triggering the sounds assigned to the various pads.

To record the audio from the keyboard you need to record the audio .....

In other words ...... RTFM.

READ THEM MANUAL's, READIN IZ VERY GOOD FOR YA... OR CHECK THAT " MPC 2500 BIBLE "

i hope you can read because you clearly missed a topic on the first page of the forum covering exactly your problem...

Get two midi cables have them going out and in from the back of your mpc an your mm6....now in the mpc this how you should your main screen set up:

TYPE: MIDI
PGM: NO.1
MIDI 1A

and now hi lite the pgm # 1 and hit window, now in the program section this should be your set up:

BANK SELECT: YES
MSB: 63
LSB: THIS IS YOUR SOUND BACK SELECTION

Okay now in there mm6 put the screen on song mode or pattern mode and hit utility and then midi and then sync.....now hi lite midi sync and put that as midi....and then in utility hit switch and then hi lit Localctrl and switch the to off


And now you should be ready to go....
