It doesn't matter if you find the tempo or if the machine does, but this is the most tight way to go (for a nerd) ;-)

Thats some tight information to know anywayz. Thanks for teaching me something new

here's a hypothetical situation - you have a sample chopped into 16 pads. start with (for example) a 2 bar loop, 80 bmp (which you obviously would not be using). lay down a slow as fck version of what you're going for in those two bars. so you'd obviously be pressing 2-4 pads in that amount of time. now you have a loop of 2 bars thats playing a sketchy, but timed right, sequence. now just move the bpm up until it's smoothed out. then you'll have a 2 bar loop with those couple of pads you hit playing at the right speed. now change it from 2 bars to 4-16 (whatever) and rerecord how you actually want it to be. the point of doing this is a fast and easy way to know your samples are timed out perfect to the bpm. using math to do this? um.. to each his own but in person i would call you a moron.

as i recently found out, cause i dont have an older machine, but thats what they use to use, numbers and math it's part of making the music, sure it's not the same these days cause the machine does it all for you , but you need to rethink this.

\resample it , but this time when you chopit in zone when you get to the slice screen you 0 out the marin and no prgm that way it chops perfectly,

another thing before you chop loop it first...get it set right then chop.

when assigning the sample on your pads you goto params of the sample and switch it to MONO take the POLY off, then shorten the end of the sample,IF IT DOESNT SOUND RIGHT!!!!mess with the delay and decay on it,if you get a small pop try to filter it out,but you may have to rechop the end or begin again,

Thanks  .

Well, everything in the MPC is math, and i am used to program synths and wavetables on Atmel chips, so i am a bit nerdy. But this is the math that any BPM counter use, so why not do it this way? It's fast to calculate, maybe even faster than loop match (i dunno).

The point is that i am a moron, but a proud one 8)

well yeah i take that back. i've busted math out on the mp more than a couple times. just thought the way i do it would be easier. but yeah. peace

Dont know if this mentioned earlier,

Chop the original samples kicks, hi-hats or whatever you hear,

then place them in the order they were in the record,

Doesnt matter what the tempo is now, just put it low enough,

now start tuning the tempo up until you dont hear no empty gaps,

peace

what mpc u on? the 2500 and the 2000xl have tempo detect feature....it's in the timestretch menu. i think a 1000 with jj os might have it to. that's how i do it. you could just start the loop on the one, tap tempo to get close...then turn the wheel for fine tuning...also, don't extract your loops unless youre sure you got it to loop right, just select the area you want to loop in the trim screen without extracting....this will let you adjust the loop area later if you need too....

why wouldve he chopped them???... there is a tempo to those chops.. unless he wants to intentionnally time strech them.. he shouldnt just to find a tempo..

its not a nerd or non beatmaker method... its about finding what ever works for you... at the end of the day if the beats done then who care what method was used as long as its hot.

lets not criticizes different method just because its different.

as for the moron comment, how can you be a moron when your incorporating math... which would be that your actually smart, not a moron....

moron means: A stupid person; a dolt.

but anyways i guess some people like to following the crowd instead of leading them... Do what makes you better man... there is always going to be someone criticizing, its what makes us different that makes us stand apart from the rest...

common guys just try different things, we all musicians and musicians need to have an open mind to experiment with different things...

i dunnow.. just loop it monophonic then roll the freakin button till it loops tight... then just... roll it a bit the other so its slacker and a micro-bit too long... and there u have a good start
