Which MPC do you think sounds best????

Theres no need for any kind of comparsion tests. The older MPC´s like the 60 or 3000 had better A/D converters, where better built and had cost twice an actual MPC at their time.
Thus a MPC 1000/2500/2000 (i never heard the 4000) can never sound better than a MPC 3000/60
It ain´t even a matter of taste.

What the f*** are you guys talking about? The 5000 is the newest MPC, so it has to sound the best! I don't understand this whole discussion

Oh yeah sorry i forgot, Akai has increasead the overall quality of the MPC lineup since they broke up with Linn.
+Features don´t equal soundquality, right?!

That statement is true for most things, not just sound gear...

i think that the oldest mpc could sound best but i dont know . i think that if the mc is newer the sound don`t must be better!

60 sounds fantastick .... but its horrible if you need a clean vocal or a clean voilin or anything clean for that matter ... yes its the the amazing for drums and grit ... but you cant say its the best due to its limits

the MPC3000 is a S3000 rack sampler with pads .. yes it sounds good .. better than 2ks xl 1000s wouldn´t doupt it, but the dif would be that much ... 2k would sound just as good if it was going through a great channel strip..
the 3k might have a slight edge in bottom and prehpas a tad smother sound..

4k ... at 24bit 96k sounds superior to all .... if you dont belive the fact on black and white .. get one and sample the same vinyl to it and your othe MPC and A / B then .... become a beliver ...

MPC4000 is by far the best sounding MPC ever maid ... if anyone tells you somthing else he´s never heard one in 24bit mode

What sounds best is also a personal issue I guess. For hiphop, sampling at a rate of 24bit and 96hz, it sounds too clean for me. I like some dirty hiphop. For others it's a must to have crystal clear samples. I'm still satisfied with the sound of my 1K, but I'm on the lookout for a s950, sp12 or an mpc 60 for my drums, cuz the 1K miss some dirt.
So it really depends on what you're into.

i agree... But if u sample a old dirty record at 24 96 its going to catch everything (air, clicks, hum, dirt).. Ive sampeld a ton of old vinyl at 2496 and it sounds everything but clean.. It sounds nasty but with clarity and detail., loud and puncy..

MPC 60 then The MPC 3000. But I really feel that the 3000 has a nicer color to it's contrast. The 60 has more character though. So MPC 60.
