Is the MPC right for my style of music?

Ok, so basically I've been producing for a year or so on sofware (fl studio)...

I produce downtempo'ish classical styled music...

Now, I want to get a MPC so that I could lay out ideas and rough sketches while I'm away from the PC... would the MPC 1000 allow me to create tracks such as the one linked above? Downtempo/cinematic based music? I've seen videos online of the MPC on youtube but they haven't really impressed me too much. Can you work with any genre of music or is it more suitable for hip hop/rap over other styles.


Also, if I were buy a brand new MPC 1000, what are the chances that I'd get faulty pads?

for ex. let's say i had a chopped up original piano loop, some strings, guitar, ambience and drums. Could I have these all playing at once in my track? Or is the MPC 1000 limited to the amount of sounds you can have in your sequence at once?

well i guess you can say the mpc is limited to the amount of sounds you can have in your sequence at once, but you do have 64 tracks for each sequence to record upon. and yeah you can chop and manipulate anything you feel like sampling. if you dont feel like sampling the piano, then just midi it up and create piano loops directly from the mp.

ppl got there own style and i guess for sum ppl that one style is pretty wack! haha

but the 1k is the shit..i recommend it

and as for the pads..not all of them are "faulty" you just gotta trust what u get
or spend the big bucks gettin the upgraded 1k

#1 yes.

#2 is in the manual, # of notes, polyphony.....
