Does anyone know if you can assign the Metronome/click to any output you like? You can do this on the 2000xl, but I read the manual for the 5000 and it made no mention of this ability. The screen shot it showed of the metronome page didn't appear to have this function either.

Make a hihat sequence and output the track to wherever you can and use that.

If the function isn't there then use the machines capabilities to achieve it if you can.

Yes, there are several, inconvenient ways to workaround it if the function isn't implemented, but my question is: is the function there?

You will have to use one of the "inconvenient " methods because this function hasn't been implemented.

Thanks for the helpful info.

I guess when the guy in the video on akaipro.com said they retained all of the functions of previous MPCs he was on some bullshit. Not too suprising, I guess. Including the omission of SMPTE, of course. SMPTE may not be a big deal to most, but in my day, the SMPTE functionality of the MPC made it an indisposable studio piece. MTC may follow the same frame rates, but is not nearly as tight or reliable as SMTPE, not to mention it's inability to be striped to anything.

Some people may think I'm being ridiculous bemoaning these features, but trust me, even recording hip-hop in the studio, these things come up. Having an MPC is usually an indispensable bridge between many types and pieces of gear.
