static on the record in

Whats up everyone, I bought me an mpc 60II recently and its been nothing but problems. The issue with it right now is if I sample something it adds alot of static to the sample. I thought maybe it was the cables or my mixer, so I swapped with known good cables and tried a different out on the mixer, same issue.

Now I'm pretty sure its the MPC because if have no cable plugged into the rec in jack, and I set the threshold to 0 and just sample a few seconds of silence, if i play the sample back its a loud static white noise sound. The sound is on the headphone outs and stereo outs so i dont think its the outs.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Researching a couple of other threads I've seen people say the fixed other static issue by cleaning the connectors. What connectors would you clean for the rec in? I'm not much of an electronics guy so I'm not even sure what cleaning the connectors would entail..

It might be the memory. Have you tried loading a sample disk from another 60 to see if it also has static?

yeah turntable is grounded. This happens even when the turntable is not involved with the mpc. I can have all cables unplugged from the mpc except the power cord and sample nothing. On playback that sample of nothing will be loud white noise..

u may wanna have forat look at ur 60 then

haha, maybe I should try loading a sample disk from another mpc. I'll get with the kid I bought the mp from and see if he has any disks I can use to test with. I'll let you know what happens.. thanks for the info so far..
