HOW DO YOU INSTALL THE OS DISK? Do I need to save it to a zip disk or what? Floppy? I have no clue.

save the decompressed(unzipped) file to a floppy.......when you power on the mpc, just put it in and you will be set......

I've used 1.70 which was what came with my 2000 & never had major problems. I did just download 1.72 & it came with a PDF file saying what the changes were in Akai's familiar, slightly wobbly Japanese to English translation. It seems to be fixes of lots of bugs which I've never actually encountered with 1.70 so I'm not going to risk it.

It also says.......& this has to be a typing error........

SYNC: It now waits 50 seconds (used to be 1 second) for MIDI Clock to come in after Start Command received in MIDI Clock Slave mode.

50 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or is that the major bug in 1.72?

Back to the original question......ilgit, what OS number does your friend want?
