I need some help

Well, I've had my 500 since Christmas and I haven't been progressing at all.
Everything I do just sounds bad. I'm young so I didn't have the advantage of knowing about old artist. And all I have is an MPC, so I can't use wax for samples yet.

So I'm just wondering, what are some tips for drums? From what I've seen, the drums are really simple.

Also, how do I loop the drums through the whole song? Say I make a drum loop for 2 bars, but the sequence is 10 bars,how do I extend that 2bars to loop all the way?


Any other tips would be much obliged.

you need to learn how to "copy events" from one sequence to another, its in the seq edit mode, take a look in the manual

Thanks, yeah, I'm about to go to my dad's for a few days, so I'll get some reading done there.

Dude, looping the same drum pattern through the whole sequence or song is a REALLY BAD idea. Why? Because it is boring. My piece of advice is: try listening to as much records as possible (old and new); pick up one record that you like most and try reproducing it as close to the original as possible (you may not achieve the same results as in the original, but you surely will make a lot of progress in your production technique); finally, if you wanna make realistic and groovy drums, try taking some drum lessons or find information on drumming and read through it (I am sure you will find it both interesting and useful).
