Just wondering if you can export a true 24bit wav from the HD instead having a 16bit wav repackaged when it goes through the sample engine.

You obviously care about the technical stuff/specs....and by reading those you know that the sampler is 16 bit.

So.....how can we determine if the 5K exports a true 24 bit wave instead of a 16 bit wave repackaged?

Ok, maybe;

I'll take "What is listed on pg 67" of the "MPC5000_Reference_Manual_v101a4" for $732?

Ok, maybe;

I'll take "What is listed on pg 179" about the sound generator in the "MPC5000_Reference_Manual_v101a4" for $453?

If I were AKAI chief engineer I'd take a 128bit engine, program it to behave as 64bit processor, brand it 32bit and trade it as 16bit system - for all the analogue homies out there expecting nothing dirtier than 16bit (did I mention the 4bit downsample facility?).

Do you *hear* the difference between 16bit repackaged to 24 bit or pure 24 bit? (12 tone music or industrial won't get better if you increase resolution. And for classic tunes it's more a matter of dynamics and low SNR. For «beat making» it'll be sufficient.)

I'd guess, if it comes to comparison of true 24bit and 16 bit it turns out, that AKAI always drops the bad 8 bits for you...automagically. (...would explain some of the bugs I come across, when I hear nothing at all :-( - all bits bad )

What about page 69, heading "Mixdown"?
