bass on the MPC1000?

bass on the MPC1000?

here's a question. i discovered, just before i sold it, that my old BOSS SP-505 had a bunch of bass sounds on it. it was also capable of taking a single bass sound and automatically chopping/pitching it to multiple keys (and presumably MIDI notes triggerable by a keyboard).

my obvious question is, if i put a bass sample on it, can the MPC1000 do this? and if so, how true to the original sample do the auto-pitched versions sound?

ok then how about this:

if i have a bass synth module and keyboard hooked up, can the MPC record the notes i play into it just as MIDI impulses assigned to certain note values and then play back just to the module upon playback?

in other words, use one track of the MPC as a sequencer to drive an external module.

yeah, for bass (and other instrument too) I midi my mpc up to a module (Logic Studio in my case) and midi my keyboard up. I set the module's outs to the in on my mp and record the midi notes on my the mpc. I'll then go to an audio track and record the sound module's sounds to the mpc. That way I don't have to turn on the module to hear my beat...I can play the whole beat out of the mpc itself. Then if I want to change something I can just alter the midi in the seq and re-record the module.

I can't for the life of me get a desirable bass sound from using the 16 level function.

pretty sure that is one of the main features of the MIDI PRODUCTION CENTER
