MPC 4000 vs. 2500 w/JJos

MPC 4000 vs. 2500 w/JJos

Im planning on buying a MPC to begin making hip hop beats with. I previously had a 1000 and did not like it due to the outs and the screen resolution. Im reading thru all these comparisons and I havent really found anything that would help me lean to either one.

I know its hard to get my hands on a 4k, but Im curious if I should keep my eyes open on ebay until I find one, or if I should just buy a 2500 and upgrade the OS.


Someone please tell me their opinion on which to buy, and how I will benefit from buying that MPC....

Well, if I remember correctly, the 2500 has the same screen as the 1000...

My friend has got the 1000 and its about the same to my 2500, the tilting screen is a plus, the cd burner drive is a plus, i personally didnt like the 4000 due to being overcomplexed and taking the fun away from making beats, if you had the 1000 youll be flying around on the 2500 because my friend will come over and is able to work it like his 1000, i would go for the 2500 and JJ OS 1 or 2

Yes, the 4k ain't for everybody. It's more on the lines of being like a IT network. And it takes highly intelligent folks (ie: network engineers, IT pros) to keep things running. And I'm by no means a network engineer, but try placing the same folks that whine about the 4k into an enviroment like that and see what the outcome would be like...instant disaster.

Everybody doesn't have that nack to figure out how the 4k operates, so that's why they made other lesser models to accomodate everybody from one end of the spectrum to the other.

But if money isnt an issue wouldnt it be better to have the 4K's power there if you ever choose to use it/learn how to use it ?

Im trying to decide between the two and I just wish I could find an average Joe that has had some time on both machines to tell me one thing.....

Is it really that much more difficult to do the basic stuff on the 4K ?

i own a 2500 hundred but you should of stood with the 1000.
I think the 4k is for more experience mpc users ^^

Honestly I don't think experience has anything to do with what model you're using. To me it's more about how far in depth are you willing to go to learn the piece of equipment you are using. I've used all the MPC's going from 2000 on and I've made at least 3 beats with each.

Its true you can use the 4000 and never get deep into it and it will be great for you as well, Ive had 1000/2000/2000XL and 4000 now I just have the 4000 / 1000 I love the 4000 the best although its a **** to carry around so I got the 4000 but its sooooooo much smoother and quicker for me on the 4000 as the edit screen is fantastic and detailed meantime the 1000 is quite cryptic and I find it personally a bit irritating to work thru. Having said that I really mis my 2000XL as it was like my best friend in the studio and smooth as silk to deal with.
The 4000 is fantastic if your making beats from older records that werent made with metronomes like old rock and roll stuff as your editing capabilities are complex and diversified. But all MPCs offer great editing capabilities it just depends on how deep you wanna go

i love my xl too, u think that the 2500 would make chopping samples and flipping samples easier and the workflow better or not much of a difference? ive been obsessed with whether i should change in the future.

4000. JJ didn't have to fix it. The true Akai already did!
