Does anyone else do this?

I won a MPC 2KXL on ebay that will be shipped out to me Monday and I was wonder why I never read about anyone eles doing what I was planing on doing: Instead of me going out to buy a turntable,mixer,and 1000's of vinyl records I was going to use iTunes and Limewire to find a song that I liked then use Adobe Audition (3.0) to chop the song export as .wav then save to floppy and load it to my MPC! I dont have any exp. with a MPC but it just sounds way easier than buying all those extra pieces of equipment (even tho when I first started looking at MPC's a few months back I couldnt wait to own 1000's of vinyl records ). Can someone give me some input on my idea

Everyone has their own method of working with their mpc,
Theres nothing wrong with ripping from good quality mp3s as long as the end product sounds good.

I'm sure quite a few people have done that before...

...and also not wrong to sample bad sounding mp3s to get a good sounding end product

gotta agree with everyone here..everyone has their own personal preference..i myself bought a nu-mark portable turn table, their cheap and you can hook it up straight to your mp without an expensive bulky mixer..i love the crackle and warm sound off records..thats me though..

I used to dig mp3s but returned to vinyls cause it's useless to have the best sounding samplers in the market and throw into them the worst sounding thing ever. I had to buy a 60 to find out that you can't get a signal correctly down to your mixer and still have an extension .mp3 to it. And believe me, they sound really bad only by the limiting they have on them. Let the rest alone.

I have tons of vinyl, but I also cheat alot! I'll explain.....

My satellite is digital and I have a DVR, DVD, and entertainment system (Stereo) connected. So with the DVR alone, I can record 100 hours easy! There's many genres of music on the satellite stations, mostly commercial free! I set it to record a few hours then go back and scan through the music! If it's something I want to keep I'll burn it to a DVD or CD! The sound is crystal clear!

These stations also display the artist, song name, and the name of the album or compilation, so If I really like it I can buy it....or at least have the sampling information in case I decide to ask for permission to use sample

Lately I've been recording "Classica"l and "Big Band" and captured many hot samples!

Thats pretty much what I do, I convert the mp3 to wav, then I use cool edit to chop it which is cool cus it tells u the exact length of the sample then I can save it to the zip and load it into the mpc or record it straight from the computer to the mpc. plus the quality is higher

ii sample from my iipod an most da musiic on my iipod come from frostwiire or iitunes the run iit thru a pre amp to my 60II

I sample from whatever I can; vinyl, cd, mp3, cable box/television, dvd, video games. I don't give a fvck!

....been sampling from the speaker of my cellphone one of those melodies they play while you wait to be connected.....that was lofi....and crunchy......
I remember Mr. Blank from Yello sayin the first sample he did was his mums fist hitting the kitchen desk and that is was a fine bass drum.
you make the sample...
also try environment samples.....
sample everything and tweak it to my needs is the way for me....

i sample off whatever is hot, but i prefer vinyl cuz whatever's on mp3 is more common and there's more of a chance that someone else has it or knows what it is.

Exactly, I used to get samples from limewire. I have thousands. But I erased em all and got a turntable. Quality is alot better and you get rarer samples. I got records from japan nyuggah. No english on the cover.

not necessarily, i bet you just about every album you have on vinyl i can go on amazon.com and find 90% of them on cd, im like the other guy i dont give a F i'll sample anything but cd's are easier to get a hold of than vinyl

well maybe so, but for bargain bin stuff, its easier to find some great/sampleable stuff on vinyl that it is for bargain bin cds...
