Checksum or allocation error while data transfer in progress

got this error today and it's not letting me load any of my songs at the moment, will let it rest and try again tommorow...but does anyone know what's up?

If so, what type, media, etc ?

Physical, conventional external hard disk ?

If so, what type ?

This error message is a data transfer error warning.

A sign of failing media or storage device and as a result; inability to read/write to the media ... a data transfer error.

In my experience this usually happens on Zip disk/drive combination that are going bad.

On your MPC3000 front panel.

Press DISK, select option 9, select option 5 then change the SCSI multi sector transfer mode to OFF...

<Make Active> at this stage.

If the system now functions correctly ( all be it a bit slower ) during disk load or save operations then it looks like your storage device/media combination is failing.

As per usual, check all cables and terminations.

10-4, read that link you posted, so it maybe a blown scsi fuse?

this is using a 1 GB compact flash card, with the Microtech PC-47b? in an external case...where is the scsi fuse located? I don't know if it's really that, it may be the card, some of the sounds will mess up..sound scratchy, have pops, clicks etc, then when I reload them they'll be ok or have the pop at the end of the sample...

how reliable are CF cards? I figured they were way more reliable, it's a Sandisk Ultra 2..the black and red ones you find everywhere...20 bucks a piece on sale, supposedly good quality...I dunno

I'll throw a new card in, but I don't know what to do about my old disk and all the songs on it...and how many partitions should I do for a 1 gig card

Maybe ... Maybe not.

The SCSI fuse on an MPC3000 is talked about much on this and other forums.

Located on the MPC3000 SCSI board.

Board silkscreen marking is F901.

If you are using a Microtech PCD-47B you "MUST" run it in single sector transfer mode.

This screen:



Set : SCSI multi sector transfer mode: OFF

Otherwise you will end up with no/bad communication.

Not the fuse you are looking for.

Doesn't sound like the fuse to me although, flip the lid of your MPC3000 and check the said F901 SCSI fuse continuity just to be sure.

A bad card or interrupted read would cause the problems you're experiencing.

I have had just as many CF cards fail as I have had regular hard disks, zips etc fail.

I have had good success with re-badged no name brands.

Just as I have had failure with name brands.

The SCSI copier in Vailixi can duplicate the disk.

This of course relies on you having enough of the same card slots.

... oh, and you will need many hours for the task.

As for how many partitions ... what ever suits your work flow.

BTW, we have new Microtech PCD-25B drives in stock that will allow you to run the Vailixi OS in multi-sector mode for both save and load operations.
